Best forehand

like others already commented, you literally cannot get something better than prime Ryu Seung-min (strength, speed, also the jpen hold adds a huge ammouint of points on the aura department)

and we are not taking in account that he also had the best footwork of all time...

Absolutely. Rsm in his prime had the greatest forehand in history, not WLQ, ML, or XX

full disclosure: I am writing this sleepy in the morning and all my opinions are wrong.

Best spin: I nominate Timo and Xu Xin
Best speed: Ryu Seung-min and Ma Lin come to mind.
Best power: not sure what that is, probably a nonsense category?
Best form: Ma Long and Kong Linghui.

Best overall: same subjective nonsense as "power".

EDIT: maybe we can define power as the total energy on the ball? Like mv^2/2 + it's rotational energy from spin?
power would probably be Aruna?

I always thought Wang Liqin had the best FH in power, spin, form, and just overall penetration. But his game is not as solid and complete as Ma Long. Or maybe WLQ's forehand looked better because it was still during the speed glue era, while ML has to be content with booster.
I'd agree with you on the WLQ front, and Fang Bo would be 2nd best in my book but overall consistency, variation, power and all the things are there with Ma Long.

Ehh he's very iffy imo. RSM takes power lol but the other guy is right with power being a useless category.
RSM .....
100%

For me RSM takes it, then WLQ, ML, and XX. Afterward FB, LGL, FZD, TB, and others

Chuan Chih Yuan played with both,
he said he had never felt so much power away from the table with Aruna's top spin - with the ball still accelerating.

Just looking at Aruna training live, you can see the power
i would put Aruna power over RSM any day.

Fair, I won't argue. But RSM takes my pick. The footwork and weight transfer is at a different level.

Would also say Aruna for power. Saw him live at SC Ljubljana 2023 against Lin Yun-ju. Aruna won 3:2, with really crazy forehands, so much power (= spin and speed together for me). LYJ looked like a kid in comparison.
, fair enough. It works

Everyone should search "Wang Hao vs Ma Te" and "Wang Hao vs Joo se-hyuk" on YouTube

I'll vote for XX on spin, RSM on speed, and ML for form :D
Same.

Just wondering what are the thoughts about Fang Bo. I find his forehand really good too. I have been watching a lot of his tutorials on my path to switch to shake hand.

And for the current WTT players, I’ll say Wang Chuqin. Good to see him back at #1.

I have to say tho that Ma Longs forehand still looks the best and most efficient. So effortless. Technique is 11/10.

Oh and little mention most durable and steady forehand I have to say Chuang Chih Yuan. Being at the top for about 2 decades, and always having such a reliable forehand.

Looking back, the Joo Sae Hyuk and Ma Lin matches were amazing. But Ma Lin’s swing is really big.

2011 against Ma Long was crazy work. 2004 again Wang Hao was even crazier. Only lost because he lacked consistency between matches (probably mentality)
And I think injuries cause it must be really straining on the body. Like Xu Xin.

FB is #2 for me next to WLQ... but that's just my opinion
