He can have, he's built like a marathonian or a triathlete, he's shown it at the WTTC (2 matches in a row the same day, winning 4-3 then 4-2) or US Smash, but when it's too fast and powerfull like WCQ or Sora, yeah sure he's lost. He won vs Felix because Felix is not that powerfull yet, he could not finish him when Gauzy was in defense. It's ike Timo was at some point, the last 4 years, Simon started with the cell ball, like Timo, like Dima, this new ABS ball era is too much for those guys.

이상수는 올해 인천에서 한국 선수 최초 챔피언스 준우승을 기록한 주인공이기도 했다. 이번 대회에서도 32강전 한국팀 후배 안재현(25·한국거래소, 14위), 16강전에서는 카낙 자(25·미국, 24위) 등 강자들을 연파하면서 건재를 과시했다. 특히 16강 상대 카낙 자는 첫 경기에서 대회 1번 시드 칼데라노 휴고(29·브라질, 3위)를 꺾은 난적이었다. 풀-게임접전을 3대 2(11-8, 11-8, 11-13, 4-11, 11-7)로 극복했다.

For whatever reason, CY 完全對唔上點/couldn't get the "point" right in BH exchanges and had to rely on FH step-around to get her out of the pinch.

Compared to Harimoto and Hayata, SYB and KNY have a way with KM and CY. KTTA under RSM, JSH, OSE and KTS has more or less got back on the right track after years of infighting. It's high time JTTA got its house in order.

KOR is not improving. It's JPN that's gotten weaker.

KOR's level has always been there but fluctuating. Their problem has always been one of management. Political infighting over the selection system has been the root cause for stagnation. This is the most harmonious and unified KNT in 2 decades with RSM, JSH, OSE et al. at the helm.

Before TWC 2019, where JJH/SYB took out Ishikawa/Hirano and CHJ pushed Ito to the brink, CHJ had a win over Ito in their first encounter and overwhelming H2H against Hayata. JJH had also gotten wins over Hayata and always gave her a hard time. Hirano, OTOH, had overwhelming H2Hs against CHJ and JJH.

Joo Cheonhui is better than SYB when it comes to CNT players, having pushed SYS and WMY to the final game, twice for the latter. As I noted over at MyTT, her problem has been choppers and combination players, against which SYB still has trouble handling.

It's incredible that Sabine managed to turn this around. Time and time again, she was caught out by long, fast balls on her forehand, which she was always too late and too short to reach. She managed to break free from the pressure after she finally started playing parallel balls with her forehand. In the first sets, all her topspin balls were hit diagonally. ➡️ 📞

As usual, QD gets manhandled by Moregard for yet another time. Harimoto would've won last week if he embraced the FH more.

Like Harimoto, QD didn't turn to the long serves and pushes to force Moregard into rallies until G4 when he was on the ropes. Moregard's strength is in his closed game and his open game is crappy, so his game plan always revolves around covering his BH with the short game and keeping the point short by maximizing FH usage.

Don't argue with the Tiebans, they believe things on the basis of whatever they decide makes sense. You can't survive in modern TT if you don't play the rally.

For the record, the person who this idea is attributed to, Harimoto, lost to Truls the next time they played and in that match, he (Harimoto) was decisively defeated in backhand play. You can watch the match and note how the Harimoto strategy failed at critical points if you doubt me.

If you waste time reading the trail, the idea that Truls has a crappy open game is based on the idea that Truls is not as good as Togami in the open game. That's like saying Kanak Jha sucks at rallying, because Kanak is not as good at rallying as Hugo Calderano. Tieban logic is easy to decipher once you understand it.
