I knew WMY would win but I didn’t expect the match to be this close.

I find it strange CTTA are sidelining FSQ after finishing at the semi final at last year China Smash. She definitely isn’t SYS or WMY material but surely she can be WYD, CXT and KM material. I wonder what FSQ H2H record with these 3 players.

Like LGL pointed out, they don't look at the ceiling but rather the floor of a player.

FSQ lost to Hashimoto, Ito, Hayata, and Ando in 2019, Kato in 2022 and YJN in 2023.

Her record in WD/XD against JPN, KOR and even EUR is also pretty poor in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

As you get older, the variability becomes greater. National Games is pretty tough as well. All those guys who can't beat foreigners all the time but sometimes play like peak Ma Long for 1 hour per year get a seat at thr table.
