Edge tape in the handle?

why do some players out edge tape on their handle
I think that I could be for weight disrtibution,what are the advanteges?

When i was younger i used to to that because it gave me more cofidence not letting the blade slip from the hand. To this day sometimes i feel the blade slipping mainly when i swith sides and have to adjust grip.

I used to add edge tape in my handle because it looks cool, and it prevents slips too

I did that too, in my opinion my blade was a bit head heavy cause of the rubbers, so i put some tape in the handle, and it helped i think, but maybe it only helped in my head, and not in the headheavy blade haha.
