each team needs to play with min 3 players, max 4 players, and the gender number needs to match.
so in France's case, all 6 of them have to play.

while Gauzy and Pavade might win 3-0 or also 2-1.
having Pavade there to win 1 set is also possible, I don't think anyone expect Pavade to win 2 or 3.
The mens loosing 2-4 in singles and doubles was what hurt the most.
If the mens did well, it would have come to a Pavade or Yuan + Cutz in womens doubles.
Having Yuan play singles, would make it also Pavade or Yuan + Cutz in womens doubles.
So how can France only use 2 mens is beyond what the rules says is beyond me.
