ITTF Adds Additional Coaching Seat from Stage 2 of ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025
https://www.ittf.com/2025/12/02/itt...om-stage-2-of-ittf-mixed-team-world-cup-2025/
ITTF has announced that teams competing in the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2025 will have access to an additional coaching seat on the team bench from Stage 2 of the event onwards.

Following feedback received from participating teams during the opening stage of the competition, the ITTF has responded by expanding the coaching allocation to better support player performance and team preparation.

The additional bench seat will enable teams to include doubles specialists within their coaching setup, reflecting the growing importance of doubles play in international table tennis.

With men’s and women’s doubles returning to the Olympic programme at Los Angeles 2028, the ITTF is committed to providing optimal conditions for teams to develop their strategies and ensure players can perform at their very best.

Following an extraordinary successful stage 1 played in front of sold-out crowds, the ITTF engaged with all teams in a collaborative approach. This adjustment will allow the federation to better support the coaching structures that teams need.

Stage 2 gets underway tomorrow, 3 December 2025, starting from 13:00PM (local time). Fans can catch the action live on ITTF YouTube and follow all the results and schedules here.

So they did change the rules this year as it seems last year there were multiple coaches on the bench compared to this year being max of 2. I remember South Korea had at least 4 coaches on the bench last year.

I don’t think there should be a limit on how many coaches on the bench. They should allow the specialist coaches for the mixed doubles, mens and womens doubles too.

the rule is 1 x non playing coach.
but additional members can sit on the bench by approval of ITTF.
ie. Taiwan had the physio on the bench too.

Its only China that has so many coaches (ie doubles coaches).
some countries only have 1 coach there (ie Sweden)

KOR 6 7 8-7 FRA

Pavade has gotten a grand total of:
4 games out of 9 in WS so far. 3 from BRA, 0 from GER and 1 from ROU in Stage 1.
1 games out of 4 5 6 in WD with YJN. 0 from ROU in Stage 1. 1 from KOR in Stage 2.
1 game out of 3 in XD with Felix. 1 from KOR in Stage 2.

YJN has gotten a grand total of:
0 games out of 3 in WS so far. 0 from KOR in Stage 2.
1 games out of 4 5 6 in WD with Pavade. 0 from ROU in Stage 1. 1 from KOR in Stage 2.
7 games out of 9 in XD with Alexis. 3 from BRA, 2 from GER, 2 from ROU in Stage 1.

What was the rationale behind switching out YJN from the XD to WS? She got so many games in XD. Giving that up for WS is so not worth it. Just let Pavade focus on taking at least 1 game in WS and hope for the best in WD.

I’m chinese from Hong Kong and a big fan of the chinese national team, but seeing Tomo taunting the crowd was pretty funny
No surprises he would do that though. When you have a crowd against you I would expect Tomo to act that way and since Tomo is Chinese as well he’s going to take it more personal from the hostile crowd. It happens with other athletes as well when you have a crowd against you.

They wanted Alexis to play Jang Woojin in singles. It might have had to do with Felix's preferred XD partner. Almost worked too, but very dependent on Alexis.

With Harimoto and Hayata playing WD together vs Hong Kong, how big is this purported timeout-gate beef at the moment and can it derail Team Japan? The thing about beef is that you may have absolutely zero beef with someone, and someone may have absolutely zero beef with you, but at third party can be sure that you both are beefing to the fullest. Or someone may have beef with you that you are largely oblivious to. Such is the nature of "beef".

It's tough being a JNT player when competing in China lol. The whole crowd is always against you no matter which one you play against
At least the fans are clearly engaged. I think as long as it is relatively clean and civil the athletes appreciate that.

Unfortunately....

From a post on X:

I am a Chinese fan of player Harimoto. In this match held in China, there was a scene where a spectator shouted, "Anyone cheering for the Japanese should die" (right after that, there was a "fight" cheer from the Ha Li fans, though). I believe the JTTA needs to formally protest this matter and demand effective measures to prevent recurrence. #張本智和

Definitely not good if true. Dangerous especially if the inciter is capable of executing on it ore getting others to. Hopefully, there are steps take to address it.

Spectator who said that should be kicked out of the stadium and banned from all ITTF/WTT events for life.

Yup. Loud and clear. ”支持日本人的死” followed by thunderous cheers of approval. Incitement of violence should have warranted calls for security.

these fans have low morals, sadly the hatred to Japan has been going on for years.
they start slowly on tieba and saying which japanese player needs to retire and they move up the notch by attacking/bullying them for years and then turn on the hatred level until wishing for people's death.

it is sickening

Politics should never be bought into sports.
In olden times, there would be truce during war time, to those taking part in the olympic games to allow athlete safe passage to play sports, and truce that the city hosting the sport will not be attacked by war.

it also doesn't make sense why for national pride, these fans must attack other countries.
this is no different to chinese citizen wearing japanese outfit and label a traitor.
here is the news: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/aug/16/chinese-woman-detained-for-wearing-japanese-kimono.
Then some chinese tourist back then went to Japan and also wore kimono and were also labeled traitor.
I know of many forieng tourist going to China and wearing traditional chinese clothing for photos, and no one back home will label them traitors. Something is extremely wrong with this kind of behavior.

Its just sports, it just photos.....
I won't be surprised if a chinese cheer for Japan now, they will also be label traitors too.
