Good that the ITTF is taking this seriously with the announcement on the speaker but if it’s true on what the spectator said the other day ITTF need to locate that spectator which it should be easily do with seat location and ticket information on who purchased it and could easily report it to the police as well so the spectator is banned from all ITTF/WTT events for life. After G1 of the Men's Doubles in JPN vs. GER, there's announcement over the speaker: "Ladies and gentlemen, please use politest language to cheer for the athletes for both sides for their accomplishments. Thank you for your cooperation."
you really need to check on more China-Japan news, then you can have a better background of it.I am not entirely sold that the issue with the crowd at the World Cup is cultural and is any more than one bad egg or a few bad eggs, but I will allow such discussions in good faith. Thank you.
just so you know, most of the Japanese players are fluent in Chinese.Due to language barriers as well the translation might not be accurate in English but any of the players/people who are attending these events and are experiencing issues whether it’s racism or prejudice or any other issue should be something to talk about and not be something to keep hidden from the forums.
In soccer matches, they actually would find the culprits and ban them.Good that the ITTF is taking this seriously with the announcement on the speaker but if it’s true on what the spectator said the other day ITTF need to locate that spectator which it should be easily do with seat location and ticket information on who purchased it and could easily report it to the police as well so the spectator is banned from all ITTF/WTT events for life.
What was said could easily be considered a hate crime in the west.
That's not the impression I get reading this article at all. What I get is that there are diplomatic issues tied to recent statements by the Japanese PM regarding China and Taiwan.you really need to check on more China-Japan news, then you can have a better background of it.
ask any member that lives in Asia if you wish to hear from them. The issue on Chinese citizens against Japanese people/culture is extremely deep.
just like the Japanese singer in Shanghai, having its fans blocked from entering by officials and forcing the Japanese singer to perform to an empty stadium.

There is something wrong with these actions, its just difficult to believe it is true.
You get state sponsored terrorist in some places. I'm not sure if these are state sponsored attacks towards Japanese celebrities or what.
No matter what, arts, culture and sports is in the same section and politics should not be involved.
Ayumi Hamasaki said on her IG (relating to this incident): I still strongly believe that entertainment should be a bridge that connects us, and that I should be the creator of that bridge.
Although it is way bigger, most soccer games have the majority of the fans as season holders. Season holders have assigned seat numbers. This makes it much easier to know which “seat” and so who that person is likely to be.In soccer matches, they actually would find the culprits and ban them.
I'm not a sport stadium police, but soccer has so much more spectators than a table tennis world cup.
it should be possible to find the culprit and ban them.
And today we found out why he hasn’t been playing singles (though i’m sure Lam Siu zhang would’ve done way worse lmaoo)Chan Baldwin is going to play singles match against Jang Woojin
For sure and to an extent WCT. Chan Baldwin 1st and 3rd game he lost only by 2 points each so he didn’t do too bad.And today we found out why he hasn’t been playing singles (though i’m sure Lam Siu zhang would’ve done way worse lmaoo)
Unfortunately, my Hong Kong team has fallen off. We have some promising young talent in Chan, Su, and Ng but otherwise HK is not looking good for the futureFor sure and to an extent WCT. Chan Baldwin 1st and 3rd game he lost only by 2 points each so he didn’t do too bad.
YepBy the way, I find this team event formula really enjoyable.
Every set counts, players are encouraged to not let away points even in difficult matches.
Seems more "team oriented" than just adding points for won matches (regardless of sets won/lost).
Hope that Italian federation will test this formula for national events/championship too.
table tennis also have tickets, i think if they want to, they will find a way.Although it is way bigger, most soccer games have the majority of the fans as season holders. I think it would be so much more difficult in a table tennis tournament unless there is a a way to use face recognition.
But it’s just sad that this is the way that some fans view rivalry. We can only hope the majority will not stand for
This
if you want table tennis related.None of which excuses threatening supporters and fans of athletes but which makes this less about some general disdain that China has for Japan but a specific foreign relations issue likely being abused by troublemakers. In any case, this is not the forum where we will settle anything related to history or foreign relations. Let's please stick as narrowly as reasonably possible to what is actually affecting the athletes for this XT World Cup, there are whole sections of the forum for discussing the broader issues if that is what someone wants to do.
Again, I get that these are pressing political issues that impact the lives of people. I am old and wise enough to know that these things can be related to any and every topic of national and international interest so in the end, there is no point discussing them outside of their direct impact on TT. But I am sure they can be related to TT somehow, especially when the nations involved are some of the largest investors in table tennis as a sport.if you want table tennis related.
well, it has a direct influence on the decade + long attack of Chinese fans to Japanese table tennis players.
and that history has nothing to do with a remark made in late 2025.
if you watch deep enough, you will see what I am referring to.
and for me it doesn't make sense on how much chinese fans can get in numbers. Its okay if it is just few trouble makers here and there, just like we only have 1 tieba user on TTD. Lets hope it remains like that.
Agree. I only been to Singapore Smash and it seems like having seat numbers for smash istable tennis also have tickets, i think if they want to, they will find a way.
