Hi all

(If it’s OT please delete).

I would like to buy a Super Cut but I literally have no idea what should I buy for rubbers.

I am quite a beginner and play as a chopper (both fh and bh), defender and blocker (passive and active).

I prioritise control over speed and prefer Chinese style - sticky/tacky rubbers and pips (short or long).

A bit of background:
I tried playing FH with Victas 401 on a VKM and H3 neo blue sponge 39’ on a Persson PP and Defplay Senso with s&t flow chop.
On Bh Victas P1, P5 ox and Piranja CD.

All these setups haven’t satisfied me completely. Perhaps p5 was a bit funnier but complicated.
Im thankful for any info and suggestions.

Goriki Super Cut is heavy and due to bigger wings near the handle, can be uncomfortable for normal and small hands. Otherwise, it is a good choice for modern defense. I have a blade from the same family - goriki danshi, and I love it. Super Cut is around 100g (105g worse case?) but it has a bigger head and the rubbers will weigh more. If you glue H3N, that will result 155-160 grams without BH rubber. The weight will not be a problem if BH rubber is under 35g - LP OX or 0.5mm sponge. In other case, consider lighter rubber for FH.

After playing with several combinations, I really like H3 BS or G1 1.4mm (measured 1.6) on FH, and Super Do Knuckle 1.4mm or Degu 2 1.5mm on BH.

@tzifos
Tbh I’m “open” to change but was unsure about how better/worse is to chop and defence with sp.
Are do knuckle lp as good as the short in terms

@piligrim
With what blade were you using them?

@belllfador
The dimensions are my only concern.. The weight and is manageable all in all.

If you are new to defensive game and chopping then I recommend a long pip and not medium pips like DoKnuckle. I use it in all my blades (including DHS 08X, Victas KojiM, Yinhe LQ1, Neottec Kanji Def) but I prefer it with Nittaku Goriki and especially in a handmade SDC carbon hybrid blade (see https://www.tabletennisdaily.com/forum/topics/sdc-handmade-blades.19018/page-98#post-532931). Especially with SDC, BH attacking is very easy and chops are very loaded. Same with Goriki, but Goriki is a bit heavy for me and cannot attack with BH so easy as with SDC.
