Hello everyone, I use Donic Power Carbon Senso V1 for my blade, Rasanter R47 on my forehand, and rozena on my backhand. I'm a low-mid end intermediate player who struggles a bit with forehand topspin and weight transfer, and I wanted to know your opinion on the setup I am considering. I'm thinking of switch the R47 (it's too advanced and hard for me I think) for a Nittaku Fastarc G1 in a 2.0. It was recommended to me by some people on another forum. What are your thoughts on this change, and the pairing of this rubber with my blade? Any and all thoughts appreciated.

Can't really give advice since I haven't used that blade or rubber, but you should try using Rozena as your forehand to see how it feels for you because if you feel that your forehand topspin improved, then just use Rozena on both sides. As for weight transfer, you just need to adjust your technique for your lower body.

what exactly do you mean by adjusting technique for lower body? Also, I will try flipping my blade and playing with the rozena on forehand

How your feet and legs are placed can affect how you distribute your weight to do forehand topspin. I'll link a video below to show you forehand topspin and weight distribution.

R47 / G1 same same hardness hence should play about same-same.

If too advance, consider R45? Rakza 7? Donic Bluefire M2? Bluestorm Z2?

Your rubbers aren't bad. Do you get coaching? If not, consider hiring one for a couple of times and specifically ask them to help you learn how to engage the rubber properly. A couple of sessions will bring you a lifetime of improvement

Really? I was told that the G1 was a good choice to start using instead of the R47. The r47 I have right now is ultramax sponge which also might be making a difference

Yes, I get coaching, but I haven’t been taught how to “engage the rubbers” at least I don’t think so… I just feel like with the R47 it’s hard for me to easily get power on my forehand but that may be my technique

In that case sure go for a step softer. Don't change just for the sake of changing though.
Yeah, I want to try another rubber that would be easier for me than the r47. I see what you mean by changing for the sake of changing though. What rubber would you recommend?

It's hard to give advice without knowing someone's playing level and style.
Fastarc G-1 is a rubber which grips the ball very well, isn't soft but isn't too hard either, it has enough speed but not too fast....if you would ask the forum members 95% of them would say it's a good (if not the best) rubber for those who aren't good enough yet to know what they want. Rozena is very similar, bouncier but also a very good beginner/intermediate rubber. Both are very easy to play. G1 will be a little different form R47, but I think you can try it out. Trying new equipment is fun, just be aware that getting 5% or 10% speed and spin differences in rubbers are minuscule compared to technique and stability. The most important is to be comfortable with your racket.

Thank you, I think I may try it. :)

Good question, try search for "weight transfer", "power from the ground", "kinetic chain". It's been discussed many times, not as many times as boosting H3, but still people may be reluctant in repeating it...

Yeah, I want to try another rubber that would be easier for me than the r47.

It may actually be better to have rubber which is not easier, in the sense of faster/bouncier... G1 is imo a good choice, it's bit less bouncier... Just saying, so that you are not disappointed when you have it... Or, when you'll be disappointed, that you know it's actually good ;-)... And also, I'd not be afraid in getting it in max thickness, I don't buy this thickness sensitivity craziness, but that's just my opinion... Cheers.

1. Okay, thanks! If you have any that you recommend that would be great, but if not I'll just look for some.

2. Yes, I figure that with the G1, it should be a little less bouncy, so that I won't hit as many balls long off the table. Thanks!

The best is to stand up straight, relax, close eyes, rotate body to the left, and then to the right, and feel how this rotation "induces" movement of your arms (without using muscles in the arms). Someone posted video showing exactly this, but I can't find it. I searched but didn't find. Some videos: Table Tennis teaching channel, Pech Pong, Anders Lind (I like how he stresses to be relaxed). There are many others. Also many threads here about FH loop, which may point you to other threads, and so, lengthy - ;-) because I searched and could not find what I was searching for...

Yes, if you have too fast setup, which can be due to too fast blade and/or too fast rubbers, you'll brake/slow-down yourself. But you need to feel free to put more into the stroke...
