Oh I have said it elsewhere, fro a serious player on offense, carbon blade with the celluloid ball was a monster. Now, Carbon blade with the plastic ball is a necessity.I owned a Primorac Carbon when speed glue time, I remember not good for Sriver-L with speed glue NO CONTROL.
Now Primorac Carbon with this weird big ball could made sense at least worth to try.
2.5mm. I don't boost.Wich one Gozo Zyre-03 2.5 or 2.7, boosted or without booster? BTY SK7 it's a speedy 7 plies allwood could be no need to booster for more speed or spin but better to softening the sponge allows a little bit more of grip.
Since you seem to be the only one to directly answer the question, why 2.7? And before anyone claims I'm a beginner for asking, I am not. Been playing for over 40 years. Started with Sriver, then speed glued rubber, then Tenergy once speed glue was banned. Never liked Dignics. Tried Dignics 05. Preferred Tenergy 05. Hit some with 09C. Didn't like it either. Feeling was too hard. Never got into boosting. Hit some with Zyre. Feels to me like an improved version of Tenergy with higher gears and better grip. I already got 2.7 for my forehand but haven't put it on yet. My only question is which thickness to get for my backhand. Currently I use Tenergy 64 on my backhand. My blade is outer carbon, stiff with soft Limba outer ply. My backhand involves blocking, re-looping off the bounce and mid-distance attack. I think the increased grip of Zyre will be good but am concerned that 2.7 might block off the table but that 2.5 would have more safety but still have enough power from mid-distance. I believe that consistency comes from practice and not the rubber. So, would 2.7 require you to lessen the impact on blocks to keep the ball on the table or require more effort to engage the sponge the way 09C requires you to be more active? Would 2.7 require aggressive blocks and counters, but not be so good for passive blocks? And would 2.5 be the better all-round solution? I understand 2.5 is about the same total thickness as 1.9 regular rubber, but I don't think it would feel like 1.9 since the sponge is thicker. $120.00 is a lot to spend and I don't want to feel later that I made a mistake. I see this comment is from back in October when Zyre was first released. Any updated thoughts now 3 months later?2.7 is the answer.
So gaiz & gurls,Now f e c k, I have a tourney this weekend and I am at a dilemma which set-up to use?
a) My current meta: BTY SK7 ( Seven ply all wood ) with both side dignics 05
or
b) experimental: Darker Speed 90 ( one ply kiso-hinoki 9mm ) with both side Zyre 03 2.5mm
Which one? Which one? Which one? Maybe Monsieur Chad G. Petit can assist me.
BTW, do you guys wanna me to video my tourney?
Hit like if you want. I’ll post it in this thread and Daily Chit Chat.
I am using it on innerforce SZLC. But I do know a 2300 usatt player who reviewed it on the forehand of an puterforce SZLC (Mizutani). His review is on his YouTube channel. His name is Louis Levene (Loeeeloeee or something like that).I've noticed a lot of pros are switching to higher vibrational properties when switching to Zyre, such as ALC > SALC, ZLC > SZLC. It seems Zyre is better suited for these sorts of blades, has anyone used it on SZLC?
I like your serve... lots of variations and pace changes, but very consistent. The fast deep one to the backhand corner is dangerous because it's very unexpected from the small movement you make. The videos are with D05. Do you find that Zyre makes your serve even more dangerous or less consistent or both? Thanks for the videos. So gaiz & gurls,
My match vids, after editing for brevity.
NB: I used SK7 with both side D05; sorry to disappoint. Next time will use Zyre03, pinky promise.

I get my best reverse serves with it. I honestly don't see the difference vs 05, vs 09c tackiness helps for short serves, but if you serve fast and long Zyre is *much* better.I think zyre is the best rubber but its not that super spinny on the serve like 09 c or d05
Spot on, that's the trick.I get my best reverse serves with it. I honestly don't see the difference vs 05, vs 09c tackiness helps for short serves, but if you serve fast and long Zyre is *much* better.
Very similar, a little less of speed so more control but still a fast rubber.Tried friends Zyre Monday night but it was on hina hayati h2 which is similar to HM ALC. my usual set up is fzd with H3N bs 40 and D05. Zyre felt fast but tbh not faster than my H3 on fzd. I do think blade make a huge difference. I was doing hard fh to block and even blocker said it’s not faster than my current set up. Baring in mind my h3 was fresh boosted few days ago.
I then did bh away from table and here I could see different compared to my D05. Zyre here was faster away from table and didn’t bottom out. in terms of feel I felt it sits between d05 and 09c. Not as hard feeling as D09c but harder than D05.
I then blocked / countered on bh against fh loops to my bh corner. Here I think blocking I liked the softer feel and absorption of D05 but when I countered the Zyre definitely felt better. The harder sponge of Zyre definitely suited the counter. This is where it really excelled. I alternated between my d05 on my fzd and Zyre on h2 during this exercise and yes definitely preferred the Zyre in this regard.
Would I change I’m not sure yet. Friend did say at some stage he will give me that sheet as he has on 3 blades 😂😂😂
So ideally when I get chance I will take my h3 off and paste Zyre and compare directly on my blade to D05. And at same time can test on fh but I think it will be very fast and I love my h3.
I’m mainly considering it on bh and the test I did was 2.7mm but I think on my fzd alc 2.5 would be better suited for control as it’s already a fast blade.
Anyone on here tried Zyre on fzd, or on bh to give feedback and also anyone care to detail how the 2.5 played compared to 2.7?
