Ni Xia Lian has returned to WTT competition! She is scheduled to play in both singles and doubles. I had heard that she injured her left wrist during practice at the end of April last year and would be unable to compete for some time. Is this her first time back since then? I wish her the best of luck.

Yup, first international competition after she broke her left arm (see link 2).

Big test later today (6:15pm local time on table 1) for Annett Kaufmann. She takes on the top ranked player in Women's 1st Bundesliga, chopper Yuka Kaneyoshi, who has beaten Annett twice in the Bundesliga.
Bad draw!

FWIW, if Kotomi beats Anna in the top half, she has beaten Yuka at the 2025 All Japan University Table Tennis Tournament.

Didn't realize there was another Japanese in the draw until I saw Omoda lol... seems like it's a matchup problem...

Annett's words in the WTT Champions Frankfurt 2025 interview did not age well. In a post-match interview she said that she likes to play against 'material' (pips) players and sees matchups with them as favourable for her. At that time she was referring to the upcoming game against Han Ying, who then proceeded to beat her.

Anna Hursey and Yuka Kaneyoshi are into the WS Finals. FWIW, Yuka beat Anna 3-1 in the Bundesliga. Although I'm favoring Yuka to win it, I think I will be just as happy if Anna wins it. I think at least currently, she is Europe's best young talent.
