Why do you still use Tenergy 05?

Yes.
Unpack rubber, put on booster the way you´ve perfected it for your desired feeling and performance, and off you go. This is at least why some friends stick with t05, they simply do not want to try anything else because the process of boosting would have to be adjusted, and they don´t want to waste time and rubber sheets before they achieve the desired result.

But I agree that also for people who just like any rubber out of the packaging, there is not always a reason to try the newest s**t, especially as it takes some people too long to adjust and eventually find the new rubber brings them no advantage.
What kind of psycho boosts Tenergy? Hurricane fair play, but Tenergy? That's phycotic.

mine too. i have one playing nittaku g-1 and tenergy 05 and the nittaku holds longer.
but hybrid mk is dislisked because of bad durability so also depends how you play.
You are absolutely right. Fastarc serie has a great durability and what comes to the durabilyty of Mk’s it might depend how often you change your rubbers. If your goal is to play over 100h with one rubber you should choose g1 but If you change your rubber after ~30h like I do I feel that the hold of properties MK’s are one of the best. This is probably becouse a very mild factory boosting.

I stopped using ESN-rubbers beacause of the sponge sudden death-thing that occurs after couple of months of use. And because most of them are rather heavy. Not using Tenergy either but a big selling point of Butterfly rubbers is their weight and predictable decline.
Seems like newer ESN is starting to compete though.

Tenergy 05 is not as demanding as D05 and user friendly when it comes to looping. I recently purchased a couple of D05, and I can't stand it on my FH, even though I have to admit its better in most areas (serving, chops, blocks...) . I reckon T05's high throw helps.

Regarding esn rubbers I think they play good with a single thin layer of glue, more or thicker layers really dampen it. That's how I kinda saved my old bluestorm. But there is a massive drop, like booster oil just running out.

Performance wise there are probably many other rubbers that match or outperform it, but what makes the Tenergies (T05) special is the clicking sound and feel of the spring sponge that's pretty unique. I guess lots of people stay with that rubber due to the unique feel it gives.

Interesting read this thread. I have just purchased one D05 and one T05 for forehand to compare what suits me. I have gone from H3 to D09c and then landed in that a faster euro/jpn style rubber suited me more so went for the top immediately with Zyre 03 just as a test and now working my way down sort of say to see where my sweet spot is. I have tried both T05 and D05 but only for couple of shots and didn’t even know T05 was such an ”old” rubber cause it surely felt just like a livelier high quality rubber. So guess I will come back with my 5 cents on why maybe to use T05 still today.

True, one of the reasons I still use Tenergy is the durability. For the price you get good performance and probably the best durability of its class. Difficulty of use is a drawback though, it bites too hard and there's rubbers like the Bluestorm Pro AM that are better in that regard.
It's nowhere near as durable as Fastarc G-1.

Maybe, but Fastarc G1 is not as dynamic as Tenergy 05 either. Doesn't make it better or worse for every player, just different, though most pros would not use G1 because it is relatively slow.

I really enjoy using it on backhand, the FX version. I tested many rubbers and it is just the best for BH. I would give 2nd spot to Yinhe Mercury 2 Soft, yes the $5 rubber, if you can't afford Ten05FX or it is 2 bouncy for you.
I can't stand any Tenergy05 - hard/regular/fx on FH, it is really unpleasant to play with on FH for some reason.
FX gives better potential for quick attacks of the serve IMO while regular hits topspin better in heated exchange.
It just is better than Rakza - any Rakza, less bouncy than Bluefire, more stable than any Xiom Vega series, better in spin department than Rasanters and when you hit hard it goes hard. It is not perfect, but it is very good. Hard to find anything better for BH. Even Dignics05 the next best thing from Butterfly isn't this good. 05 has to be at least good because I always come back to it on my BH, after trying different ones I am always like: "Yeah this is nice, not bad, not bad at all.", but when I slap FX on my blade I go: "Yeah this is bit better." I am very picky aswell when it comes to the gear so take my recommendation. 05(fx) belongs to BH!

Do you find it as durable as Fastarc G1?
I used and replaced both. The Fastarc G1 probably edges out a little bit in terms of MAINTAINING original playing characteristics for longer, but in actual practice, I actually feel T05 beats it, because T05 starts off a lot more dynamic (catapult and spin). Because of it's higher dynamics when new, even if it doesn't retain it's new playing characteristics for that long, it holds on to good playing characteristics for longer than Fastarc G1.

I play 2-3 hours 5 days a week and use T05 on forehand so I run through rubbers really quick. At that kind of intensity, T05 lasts me about 3-4 months, and the difference between Fastarc G1 and T05 is about maximum a month. But I still wouldn't go for Fastarc G1 on forehand unless I deliberately want something slower and more linear (perhaps for backhand), but I'm perfectly happy with G09C for backhand.
