Zyre-03 2.5 vs DNA Platinum XH vs Helix Platinum XH

Hey all,
I just wanted to share my personal experience with these three rubbers to summarize my opinion and, hopefully, help others simplify their future choices.
For reference:
  • Zyre-03 2.5 was used on my FH with Timo Boll ALC
  • DNA Platinum XH and Helix Platinum XH were both used on my FH with Cybershape Carbon CWT (+6 grams)
First of all, I truly believe that Butterfly and STIGA create and innovate excellent products, and their equipment performs best when paired with their own blades.

Cons

  1. Zyre-03
Sometimes it’s simply too fast, although it provides a lot of spin overall. The short game needs to be very precise, and short serves - especially in crucial (nervous) moments - can be challenging. It’s also sensitive to high-humidity conditions.
  2. DNA Platinum XH
I don’t like it on FH at all. In my opinion, it’s even faster than Zyre-03 but noticeably less spinny. Opening against heavy backspin is very difficult - the ball doesn’t dwell on the rubber long enough. Short serves and pushes are also harder to control. Also sensitive to high-humidity conditions.
  3. Helix Platinum XH
Definitely slower than DNA Platinum (don’t rely on marketing), but spinier. Overall, it ranks third in terms of speed.

Pros

  1. Zyre-03
It gives a very linear feeling on TB ALC—the harder you hit, the more you get back. Countering is where this rubber really shines. Spinsight measurements show RPS very close to Dignics 09c (with my skill level, around 125–130 RPS on average against blocks/topspin). Balls from Zyre-03 also land deeper in the corners. Lifting downspin is also easy, the grip from the rubber is really good.
I’d recommend it to players who prefer aggressive counters over “safe” high-arc loops.
  2. DNA Platinum XH
Cybershape doesn’t provide the same linear feeling as TB ALC with Zyre-03. It feels more like:
    • 20% effort = 50% speed
    • 50% effort = 80% speed
This comes down to personal preference, but I believe Cybershape performs better in high-humidity environments. On FH, DNA Platinum is fast and direct—great for counters and blocking. However, it doesn’t feel safe enough when control is required.
That said, this rubber can suit many players well, especially strong, punchy BH players. That’s where it truly shines, in my opinion.
  1. Helix Platinum XH
A lot of control, surprisingly without losing too much speed. Lifting heavy backspin is easy, and sometimes it even feels better than D09c or STIGA DNA Hybrid - probably because it’s a relatively new rubber. Short serves and short pushes are the best among these three. Counters are solid, though not the best. Less sensitive to high-humidity conditions, but probably because of the blade, not the rubber itself.
Because Cybershape isn’t as linear as Butterfly ALC blades, Helix Platinum XH makes it easier to generate power with less effort - similar to Zyre-03 on TB ALC. Just keep in mind that the arc with Cybershape won’t be as high or deep, so balls played with STIGA equipment are generally easier to return or block.
Longevity is definitely better than DNA Hybrid. I’m seriously considering switching from STIGA DNA Hybrid to Helix Platinum. Next time, I’ll probably choose 55° instead of XH (52.5°) for FH.
I would recommend Helix Platinum as a new “universal” rubber for BH-dominant, FH-dominant, and all‑around players - especially if you’re already using STIGA blades.
Hopefully, this helps some folks here.

P.S. I'm not comparing price points intentionally due to it's not the main topic, and I'm also not addicted to specific brands. All my conclusions are based on my skillset, practices and matches only.

For me, Helix is currently the top non-Hybrid ESN rubber.
There wasn´t much of a development in that field during the last few years, as everybody was going hybrid for all player levels.
It seems Stiga benefits from a player who wants to stick to "normal" so they have to push the level there ;)
