Hello Guys, first my profile : around 1700 rating in France (around 2100/2200 USATT I think) - huge forehand and good backhand but I mostly play forehand to forehand in game and I love to finish on the third ball forhand attack with quick, lethal and spinny forehand. H3 40 BS forehand boosted and Fastarc C1 backhand.

Now I play with viscaria and FZD ALC, and always wondered if the super viscaria (I pref the handle of visc) could suit my game style, so, before any junkie order, I would gladly take you opinion on the matter ! Good idea to try ? Bad idead ? Thanks !

It's a good idea but there are no free lunches in table tennis. If you think you need a bit more speed, then it is a good idea. You will also lose some control but for a faster blade, the Viscaria Super ALC is as close to the Viscaria as one can get and the control is decent. It will feel close but it won't play exactly the same.

I am at a similar level of playing as you are and whenever I play against someone with a viscaria super alc (and I have done so many times), I notice that the spin is just plainly less than with almost all other blades I play against. But it is very fast and direct, so I think it suits well players with short movements and who like to counterattack close to the table (and short pimple players).
I think I play a similar game as yours (good service and third ball) and I would even choose a 5 ply elastic all wood over a Viscaria SALC if those were my only choices, but my emphasis is on spin rather than speed.

Thanks guys, I think I will try it and report to you, i will sell it here if I don't like it ! My main concern is now the lack of spin...
Good thing you play with Hurricane because that'll help with adding spin lol I had a Viscaria Super ALC Chinese Penhold with Zyre-03 on one side and I was able to get lots of spin, so I don't think it should be an issue for you.

i went from fzd alc-> fzd salc-> childhood old tag timo boll spirit-> harimoto salc. All i can say is that the FZD SALC had the least amount of spin with the same technique. I m fairly advanced(top 20 in my state in india in mens), and have used all these blades with hurricane 3 blue sponge 41 degrees on the forehand and D09c on backhand. Personally the harimoto super alc has been the best of this bunch. Short game is a breeze, the baseline speed is similar to viscaria/outer alc, but the upper ceiling for power and spin is much higher.
