Help me see the difference between rubbers

Hey!

Have made a previous thread regarding the fact that I need a new blade. Thank you for the advice.

One thing I don’t really understand is the difference between tensor rubbers and hybrid rubbers?
Could you list the:
Advantages:
Disadvantages:

Would appreciate it a lot.

I have played with Stiga Platinum H. But I did not like it on my backhand because it has ”less curve” i felt. Therefore I like Stiga hybrid H more. But still my weakness is serve returns so therefore wouldn’t Platinum be a better choice? If it wasnt for the fact that i did not like the feeling on backhand.

Do you have any recommendations on The new Stiga Carbon soft touch regarding rubbers that would solve this issue?

Hmm. Let’s say these are the basics. Tensor has a soft sponge, so a lot of speed/power. It has a GRIPPY top sheet to generate spin. The topsheet is not sticky/tacky. Hybrid is has the soft, powerful sponge of a tensor, but a tacky/ skinny top sheet to generate spin.

Tensor rubbers are typically liek ESN rubbers you'd find. Super bouncy, harder to control than your generic untensioned rubber. the problem is that they are typically less spinny and use more sponge to generate spin. hybrid rubbers use a semi-tacky (not as tacky as chinese rubbers) combined with a tensioned sponge to retain that speed but also allowing higher spin generation. Hope this clears it up for you.
For intermediate, it really depends on what rubber you are currently using. Obv if youve trianed with tensor rubbers for the past year or so, you dont want to immedaitely transition to something different."

Althouh i havent tried stiga rubbers before, i would assume that you might want a rubber that has more dwell or hold the ball longer. You can look into hybrid rubbers althoguh there are some grippy rubbers that have quite good arc as well e.g. tenergy 05. for hybrid check d09c or if youre on a budget g09c. you can also check nittaku fastarc g-1.

Tenergy is quite spin sensitive and relatively bouncy so it isnt very good but its doable if you have good control. glayzer 09c is quite good since its mildly tacky and slower and not as bouncy.

If you have a problem receiving serves you definitely don’t want Tenergy, specially not Tenergy05.

just note i was referring to glayzer 09c. the regular glayzer is slightly worse in terms of serve returning. although most online video reviews including the ttd one say that glayzer 09c and glayzer are slow, i dont think so. theyre quite bouncy even on a korbel blade (all wood). I thought when they said slow like maybe like less catapult that what i experienced.

I think they come across as slow if you play Dignics like Dan does, which was the point of those rubbers.

I reckon Butterfly knows some people just want to play Dignics whether it suits them or not, but needed something other than Tenergy to bridge the gap.

I guess but dignics requires better technique and timing to make full use of the rubber. by no means are glayzer rubbers slow if you comapre to like all rubbers other than dignics.
