In all fairness, Fan lost both of his matches 0-3 to Felix and 0-3 to Alexis while using Zyre 03.
Can't imagine such a result while using D09c.

Zyre03 when slapped properly does not go into six ball mode. Usually max two or three. Either you die or opponent dies.

These were statements made 9 months ago and my view of Zyre 03 evolved over many threads. I guess that is what happens when people read a post and just decide to focus on it, which is not unreasonable behavior. But again, it was 9 months ago. I even played with the rubber extensively.

I haven't played with one, let alone seen one yet, but the thick sponge + thin topsheet combo "should" be superior to older style rubbers if they can make it work. A lot of emphasis on "should".

Very spinny, very fast for a very spinny rubber, very good if you are consistently active and like to put the ball past people close to the table. But if you are someone who wants safety rather than explosiveness, the rubber will sometimes disappoint you. It can also slip at inconvenient times vs Dignics 09c or sticky hybrids and is definitely not as safe in the short game.

EDIT: And unless you engage the sponge and sometimes even then, the contact time feels very short.

Thanks. That's about what I thought it would be. There's probably a limit to how much elasticity and hysteresis you can add to rubbers before they become too difficult to play for some people.

I think it would be easier to go to Zyre03 if you are a T05H user than D05. The amount of pop it gives even with a light touch is quite something.

Fzd playing with it is quite surprising given his normal choice of rubber. Unless he's testing a sticky version?

Switching to and adapting to a new rubber takes a lot of time for some players that are very used to something else. I think that it will take at least a year if not longer for him to feel fully comfortable with it if he sticks to it.

Of course it’s not the market version, it will be the exact sponge hardness that he wants and then it will be heavily boosted with some top pros getting further customisations.

To me regardless of his change in FH he looked like he kept getting caught suprised while i was watching. Balls, even on his backhand which normally he would be perfectly ready for he was getting to late, idk if that all came from zyre on his forehand.

Yea I don't like it. You don't get the hold and release feel, the ball just pops right out. Feels like a suped up D05. I think FZD's swing is a bit too big for it, on both sides, but it's perfect for someone like Tomo.

Yes, that's the most distinguishing factor I forgot - until you get used to trying to extend dwell with it, the dwell time is extremely short using whatever technique you may have used for other rubbers.

I tried it for the first time. Very easy to play from the distance especially returning sharp angle shots. Feels like I am playing tennis lol

I feel he wasn't used to it yet because Hurricane and Zyre-03 play very different, especially the bounciness from Zyre-03 compared to Hurricane's low catapult, and also the Lebrun's just got the best of him that team match.
