Hybrid suggestions for someone coming from H3

Hi guys!

So I currently use a Long 5 with unboosted hurricanes on both sides but am looking to change equipment entirely. I've been using this setup for about 2+ years now and it has suited me quite well but I feel it's time to change to something a bit faster, especially since I don't want to boost my rubbers. I am thinking about switching to FZD ALC blade (not 100% about this yet) but don't know what rubbers to use. I definitely want to use hybrid ones but I just can't make my mind up. Some of them also seem to have a few disadvantages that make me not want to use them at all - for example Dignics 09C is too expensive for me, K3 doesn't last long enough etc.

The ones I have been considering are:
Victas>15 sticky (although I have read people talk about the speed not being quite there)
Rakza Z (but the throw is quite high)
Glayzer 09C
Helix hybrid XH
It's worth noting that since I currently use Hurricanes I really value tackiness and spin on the ball which is why I am wanting to use hybrids and not go straight to European rubbers like tenergy.

My playstyle is a very aggressive fast game with plenty BH-BH exchanges and FH counters. I loop first against most long balls and enjoy playing positive shots at mid table distance.

If anyone can suggest any other rubbers/provide some insight that would be greatly appreciated :)

Rakza Z in my experience is a very safe, quite spinny rubber, but it's lacking in the high gears. If you don't want to finish the rally early it might be good, but maybe the EH version? V>15 Sticky is definitely spinnier and faster, overall an amazing rubber but I've heard that it's short lived.

Try something like Battle 2 which is basically pre-boosted Chinese tacky. There's a whole thread on Chinese rubber that doesn't need to be boosted
How long does Battle 2 last with its pre boost? Is it the same way as H3s come from the factory pre tuned but then lose that over the following months?

says I like to put heavy topspin on the ball

I don't think its factory boosted, its just faster than H3. The tradeoff is that it doesn't pull on the ball as strongly or have as high a spin ceiling as H3 does, and the arc is noticeably lower even if it is pretty sticky

Glayzer 09c has no touch or feel imo, not very tacky either

If you are coming from unboosted hurricane any hybrid will be much faster for you really.

I went the opposite direction (tensor -> hybrid -> hurricane) and the last one I tried before hurricane was bluegrip J1, I can recommend it. I am also using stiga dragon power 55 on backhand at the moment and I think that's also a possibility (and you can find it very cheap if you order it from China). Both rubbers are easily faster than my H3 boosted

Lots are fine, Rakza Z EH feels a bit like H3 but isn't able to put the effortless quality of say K3 so it depends what your looking for

If you need to keep the H3 short game and dont mind loosing some of that wrist flick point ending power Rakza Z hard works ok

If you dont mind loosing some of the short game control and want the ability to hit stronger shots with a much shorter stroke the I would suggest K3 or K3 pro

Funnily I DONT reccomend D09c as I didn't like it coming from H3, but again depends I know plenty who love it from H3.

They will all be fine

I have similar Setup as you. I did try VIscaria (which is the same compo of FZD ALC), and it did not suit me. It is very different from HL5. I think you won't like it. If you change rubber, keep the blade, otherwise it will be too much change, and you won't know what the new rubber feels. You will lose tons of control too.
I did play H3 boosted on FH for 5+y. This year, I was tired of boosting. So I switched to Xiom Vega China VM. It is the closest to a Boosted H3. An Hybrid, with ESN sponge, but with a true tacky topsheet like H3. Lift the ball for months. It keeps the characteristic of H3, but with ease of use, and speed easier to access. Trust me, I am the one that create the biggest speed and spin in my club with my FH. I have HL5 golden, and it pairs well with the Vega China VM. I suggest you to go for that in the FH. Last long, tacky, power, very good replacement for H3 that last very long.

For the BH, I went from Rakza Z to Tenergy 19 to now H8-80. Rakza was too hard for my BH. T19 was easy to use, but sometimes too quick/dynamic, that leds to many unforced error. Additionnaly, I missed the tacky, so I went back to H8-80 I played 2y ago. My playstyle involve some tiny brush when late, and I need tack to do that. And I am very impressed. Plenty of speed, spinny, and I find the famous ball pop up after table rebound that surprise the opponent because of the amount of spin. Sure it would be less dynamic than proper ESN Hybrid. But, if you come from H3, H8-80 is a good transition. And no need to be boosted, last long and is cheap.

On Aliexpress, you can get the H8-80 for 25€ and Vega China for 40 to 45€ a sheet.

If you want a proper Hybrid, see the review of @victormanriquey on his website. Bluegrip S1 and Nuzn 48 could fit your BH.

What is XIom Vega China VM ? I can't find anything else than Vega China. I should try your setup sometime.

This one, the regular Vega China, but some people are confused, so I add VM.

Apparently there has been a Vega China VH. And Vega China +. China + sucks apparently

Try the DNA/Helix, would be my top suggestion

thanks for the response I really appreciate it :)

I have played with xiom rubbers in the past but for some reason have never quite liked the feel - I have however tried 8-80 and that was quite nice but I think a little bit too slow at times for my BH. I was also thinking about going for Rakza Z but the high throw angle has deterred me a bit. At the moment I'm really interested in trying DNA XH but we will see what happens.

If I was to change blades would you have any to recommend? I would like something similar to Long 5 with feeling and deep hold, but wouldn't complain about something a little faster (or should I look to get this speed from my rubbers?).
