Japanese women looking like the old Chinese women from before, molding international tournaments into their own national champs.
Such a coincidence. The first time JNT did this was back at Bulgaria Open 2017 in Panagyurishte. All-Japan Contender Panagyurishte 2026 would be quite fitting.

Tieba users can't be wrong :)
They aren't because they have been keeping tabs of the top players, unlike many here, especially those who have a knack for useless one-liners.

Ovtcharov's win rate has dipped to the low 50s for the last 2 years and it's never happened before. While he has been losing in the early rounds of WTT events since its inception in 2021, he could still reach the final (6 times) and win (2) against a strong field between 2022 and 2024. Now, he's had some notable wins over those players who were either inconsistent or also in a slump in 2025 (Harimoto) and 2026 (Calderano, LSD, JWJ, LJK, Moregard), yet he's lost way more to many others that were lower-ranked than those.

Like LJK said ahead of WTTC 2026, he's no good anymore skill-wise but his experience and mentality could come in handy at times. The same is true for Ovtcharov but it doesn't change the fact that he's washed-up.

(For Ovtcharov, it feels that if an opponent drags the match out now, his chances of winning aren't great. If I recall correctly, he lost the deciding game against Liang Jingkun in Singapore—and it seems he even let a 2–0 lead slip away to lose 2–3? Age is catching up with him; he really isn't what he used to be.)

(That match was absolutely wild—Bin fell behind 0–2 but staged a comeback to win 3–2. Yet in the deciding game, he was up 10–7 with three match points only to let the score be tied; then he handed *three* match points to Oldcha, only to level the score again and finally clinch the win...)

(It really comes down to age; if Ovtcharov were four or five years younger, there’s no way he’d be playing like this. I can’t even remember the last time he made it to the deep rounds of a tournament.)

(I discovered that Ovtcharov of foreign association achieved a yearly win rate of over 90% in 2017, with a record of 44 wins and 4 losses. Assuming the ITTF data is accurate, Ovtcharov is comparable to Xu Xin—both boast one World Cup title and a single-season win rate exceeding 90%, placing them together in the tier just below the absolute elite)

It is nice when you publish these analyses and forget what drove the issue in the first place. You did not mention anything about Dima being washed up. when he beat LYJ or Harimoto. You were the one who actually used the idea of "washed up" to selectively insult Dima (and Truls) when Truls lost to Dima. That was your one-liner. You did not bring it up to criticize Oh Junsung nor to criticize Kawakami.

Everyone knows Dima is to some degree past his prime. No one on the basis of that argues that he isn't a dangerous player capable of beating anyone in the world on the right day. But when Truls lost to Dima, you were trying to imply it was something that reflected very poorly on Truls in a way that seemed to ignore all of Dima's other victims. Dima in his current form is still a high performer in the German League (which I know Tiebans do not care about despite players making more money from it than on tour usually, which creates a huge responsibility for them to perform or lose their playing time and contract status).

If you had brought it up when Dima beat all those players and argued it reflected poorly on them, it would have been fine. But you didn't so bringing it up for the specific case of Truls felt like it was clearly agenda driven. And you have not brought it up again in the case of Kawakami.

In any reasonable sense of the word, most players over the age of 35 could all be considered washed-up. I mean when Timo beat Harimoto in 2024, he was clearly washed up. The question is really whether your contextual use of the term is biased and reveals an agenda.
