Short/med pips similar to a worn out Bluegrip C1 (very hard sponge)

Hi,

I'm helping a clubmate transition to pips/anti on his BH. He currently uses a very worn out Donic Bluegrip C1 (a hand-me-down from another person) and has developed a certain style around this. Basically he blocks and pushes, which slows down the pace returns it flat similar to an anti rubber. He would like to have a little more attacking ability without developing a spin-based offensive game in the BH like inverted rubber.

Therefore, does anyone have any suggestion of such a pimple rubber that is similar to a very hard sponged, but worn out topsheet inverted rubber? I was considering anti rubbers but I think that will be too passive/defensive and is too similar to what he has already. Theoretically, I'm imagining a short pips that has some grip, and comes in a very thin sponge to have the same dampening effect like the very hard Bluegrip C1, since I think pips are naturally bouncy already. But please, I'm opening to any suggestion everyone may have.

Thanks in advance.

I've read a lot about different hard pips and played with them for about five years. I wouldn't even consider Chinese hard pips because they're slower than European ones. I've tried 802 and 802-40. Others might be faster, but judging by the reviews, they're not. If he's currently playing Bluegrip C1, the speed difference could be significant.

I'd consider rotating pips (they rotate just like the old inverted ones):

der-materialspezialist Firestorm Green Storm Edition - (judging by the reviews, they're very stiff pips, but unfortunately the manufacturer doesn't specify the sponge hardness in numbers)

STIGA Symmetry - (47.5 hardness according to the website, but I definitely remember that when I tried them a few years ago, the packaging listed 42.5 hardness. Maybe they changed the hardness, I don't know.)

If you need less spin:

Andro Blowfish+ (45 hardness)
Dr.Neubauer Killer Pro (45 hardness)

In any case, compared to the Bluegrip C1, which has a hardness of 60, it can feel very different.

By the way, long pips should have a harder sponge.
For example, the Victas CURL P2V has a 55 hard sponge.

802-40 mystery iii is available with really hard sponges. And can be boosted for more speed. Many European shortpips have very soft bouncy sponge.

I played 802 and 802-40 for 3-4 months each, 2-3 times a week. I had the 802 with a stiffer rubber than the 802-40. Both were slow. I tried boosting them with the Falco Tempo Booster. It only made the sponge softer. The speed didn't change. I also tried boosting the pimples: Stiga Radical, Palio Flying Dragon, and Victas S1. The only effect was the same: a softer sponge and no increase in speed.

Of course, this is just my limited experience.

I think many short pimples will be pretty similar to backside. Need to go medium pips or faster anti.
