Lin Shidong loses again in a match against Sweden

seriously i mean i get it why fan zhendong didn't accept the invitation of playing the team championship except the reason he said it's personal. but bruh honestly i think he didn't want to play with an npc lin shidong. he's been so inconsistent losing to non chinese players. his dominance was short, in a blink of an eye he was out of top 3. like what's happening?? will they even proceed in knockout stage? will they win in the group stages? i certainly don't know

Careful. People on TTD will argue that CNT is the same as it was with Ma Long, XX, FZD and Jike.
well people will have different opinions. i think today's CNT isn't that dominant unlike CNT before. they are strong that's true and european players and other countries are constantly getting better but yep

He's very young to be put in this spot because of Fans early exit from the team, not easy with his style still in development.
All that said Shidong is the worst top2 player they've had in over 30 years
lin shidong had a surprising climb to the top of rankings and also had a surprising fall out of it. i personally think the CNT lacks the mentality they need playing against non chinese players.

I’m currently at the venue watching and have been th last 3 days.

I must say watching live Lin Shidong and Liang Jingkun don’t look there normal selves.

Going to be hard for China to win the whole thing as there to reliant on Wang Chuqin as things stand.

Every now and then there's a prodigy that shows up and rockets up to the top echelon because they've got this one skill that's killer and the others haven't played them that much. Eventually they target that skill and it becomes restricted, and then it's about how they respond that determines where they settle in the rankings for a bit. You saw that with Tomo, and he's been figuring out how to even out his game.

LSD has an amazing backhand that takes away a lot from the other aspects of his game, especially forehand and short game. He's in the phase of figuring that out right now.

LJK on the other hand is pretty close to washed. He's gotten heavier and heavier and that's not helping his lack of endurance. He's gassed at the end of early games, much less matches. If he wants to extend his career he needs to improve his fitness. And honestly, the physical demand of table tennis is not that high. It's just a discipline issue.

Please indulge me and let me be totally contrarian by saying this:
  1. Could it be possible that CNT knows that they are top dog and in this Group match.
  2. Even if they lose the matches in Grp Stage, they auto qualify into the R32 by virtue of seeding.
  3. Therefore why expand so much energy.
  4. Play it safe.
  5. Do not show too much.
  6. Be coy like a debutant maiden, and when the time comes, spring like a hare from a trap.

I think this is quite accurate for the match against korea, but the match against sweden was disheartening.

I'm pretty sure they are trying to get Liang and Lin after their injuries back into competition form with this group stage, but the bigger issue might be moral. Those matches might have made their form worse.

LJK actually looks slimmer. If he's put on weight it must've been between his legs :ROFLMAO:

Yeah I can still dunk a basketball what about you? When's the last time you clean and jerked 140?

I do owe LJK an apology I never should have doubted the heart of a champion. Whatever they did during the camp for this tournament it definitely helped.
