I reffed him at a round of the French national championships qualifier before COVID and he was already showing great potential and attitude, I didn't even realize how young he was back then, I thought he was 2-3 years older lol.

Does anybody know what blade and rubbers he's using now?

i like his clean cool simple playing style and attitude better than Matsushima's but i enjoy watching either player, they are my two favorite players to watch. i see much of their bh technique in how i approach the bh topic, and vice versa: when i practice my bh technique, i try to learn what they do slightly different. i like to imagine that my bh approaches their bh style. they keep the right elbow high, in front, and sorta horizontal, and hover with this posture around/over the table frikkin all the time, looking for an opening to employ their bh weapon (coton: flick; sora: hit) asap.

and they're right! .. as long as the ball is over the table, it is way easier/more natural to attack the ball with your bh than with your fh.

coton is such a revelation (and confirmation) that a single weapon (bh flip vs bh flick) is sufficient to overwhelm any opponent. he is absolutely amazing with his efficiency and hovering. so simple a strategy!!

Mmmmm, I only partly agree with that. You should include LYJ’s backhand as well. They all have a brilliant backhand from the baseline and use it at the right moments, but also at the wrong moments, in my view. Sometimes I don’t understand why they go all out on their forehand with their backhand, thereby leaving their deep backhand wide open. Of course, these players are super-fast, but still. Tomo, on the other hand, does this in a much more considered way. His forehand flip is perhaps one of the best in the game and gives him enough time to cover his backhand. Tactically, it might well be the better choice if you can’t score the point with a single backhand shot.
And yet these brilliant young players are the future.
