W968 different handle sizes?

No. 1 is Ma Long player edition
No. 2 - 4 is player edition
No. 5+ is normal national.

So, you think that when there is a production of W968 blades running on a certain day that DHS
- has a unique process for No. 1 AND a different handle
- has a unique process for three more batches, namely No. 2, 3, 4, AND a different handle
- has a unique process for all of the rest from No. 5 and higher?

Well what I heard by a store, is that large amount of No. 1 blades are sent off to Ma Long, the ones he doesn't want, go back to DHS and are then sold as a Ma Long player edition. Same goes with number 2 - 4 to other main players, whereas 5+ are just regular national player versions. The ones we can actually get on the market (No. 1-4), is the ones the national players returned to DHS. Could be the top wood is too uneven, or the handle doesn't fit how they want. Nonetheless not every blade is the same, and it's basically a double QC on No. 1 - 4. Ma Long is known for wanting a slightly thicker handle though, hence why it also could be a sign in those being slightly thicker.

I'm almost sure that is not true.

Also W968 isn't fully mass produced. I believe they make 40 per day.

Well, you're spreading a lot of wrong information and that is why some of your other statements (that probably are true) are being considered wrong as well.
Don't rely or trust too much on 3rd party statements from guys in the internet you don't know. They might be wrong as well except for those of course that are in the CNT or one level lower.
But ultimately, go and get the stuff yourself and make your own conclusions.

Woah guys. Its not worth coming over blows just for some wrong info. But I think th\at 001 and 002 and 003 are just slightly better QC or better pattern/scale/material than others. Especially 001. I dont think there is a huge difference. But what is true is that they are worth a lot more.

We sometimes receive HL5 and W968 blades for repair. I also know some of my friends who have these blades, and I can tell you the handles are different. There are thinner and fuller handles.

I currently have a HL5 blade (H17_79 HL5 BCXAXAF 090) being repaired, with a 5.9 mm blade thickness.
The handle dimensions are:
Length - 100.5 mm
Top - 26 x 23 mm
Middle - 26 x 24 mm
Bottom - 34.8 x 26.4 mm

As you can see from the dimensions, this handle is almost the same as the handle @vossi39, but a little thicker at the end
Top of handle: 25.8 x 23.0 mm
Middle: 26.6 x 23.3 mm
Bottom: 33.3 x 25mm
Blade number: 23

Previously, I had a W968 blade with an uneven blade thickness of 5.9 mm at the top and 5.5 mm at the chord.
Handle dimensions based on blade photos:
Length - 101.2 mm
Top - no data
Middle - 25.7 x 22.7 mm
Bottom - 34.85 x 25.9 mm
It's likely that this handle is thinner because the blade itself is thinner

Previously I also had for repair another W968 (20240903_1) blade with a thick handle. I didn't measure the handle dimensions, but there's a photo showing the handle itself compared to the handle of my blade.
I'll also take a photo of the HL5 blade I currently have, compared to the same handle.

- depending on batch/serial number
- depending on year of manufacture
- depending on 01, 02 - 04, 05+ (for the W968s)

Otherwise, it could just be that the differences can be attributed to normal manufacture variances that you also see in other manufacturers such as Butterfly, etc.

Very nice intel from you with concrete measurements and data, and only more so supports the idea that W968 001 might have thicker handles in general, but QC can change that. Thanks
