For those of us who've never had the privilege of visiting either country, where would you recommend us to go? Any "If you only visit once, be sure to go here" places? Any weird/unique foods or drinks to try?

Some nice ideas already, if i could suggest a route traveling from Düsseldorf i would head south along the Rhein river, first stop Cologne for the Kölner Dom. Then there's Bonn the old German capital, not a must but if you're into HARIBO they're from here and have a nice factory store with way more products than you've probably seen before.

Further south you will find many cute towns in beautiful landscapes and countless castles along the river. You'd also be entering Germany's wine region at a great time of the year, wine harvest, street wine festivals etc.

In Koblenz the Mosel meets the Rhein and the detour of the Mosel to Trier is gorgeous as well. Along the Rhine here begins the Upper Middle Rhine Valley (UNESCO World Heritage Site, outlined on the map i linked) stretching until Bingen. If you have time to go further there's Mainz and especially Heidelberg that i'd recommend.

I'm not a fan of tourist attractions but we have quite a variety of options.
Rotterdam for the harbour area and a lot of post-war architecture.
Den Haag for historic art museums and buildings, and the shore (although you can take a direct metro onto the beach from Rotterdam)
For the windmill experience, Kinderdijk is a top tourist attraction but you can find them in many cities on the west side, including operational ones.
Delft is pure history, including the beginnings of the current Netherlands and the famous Delft blue ceramics.
Amsterdam... Well the opinions are divided. I don't care much for it and you can find canals in Delft and Utrecht, even in Rotterdam and Den Haag. It's said there are more tourists than inhabitants in Amsterdam, and of those living there the majority isn't born in Amsterdam. So how authentic is it then?
Utrecht is as said a smaller, more quaint city than Amsterdam. I love the restaurants on canal level and there's good shopping options.

That's pretty much the major western cities. There is a lot to be experienced further in the country, for example the Veluwe and Utrechtse Heuvelrug are beautiful pieces of nature. If you like theme parks and fairy tales, de Efteling is a great experience. I could probably go on for a bit, but if you have specific interests I can help.

Hi NDH,
I have signed for being in the tournament but I didn‘t get any emails so far. But my teammate told me there were a few or at least one. Is there any option to check why it‘s like that?
Greetings 👋🏼

Hey all,

The updated email for the hotel is: [email protected]

We had a really good call with the Dusseldorf crew today - It's looking like it's going to be a great event!

A few things to note....

There is likely to be some playing time on Friday evening (combination of time just for us, and a mass training session with the Germans).

Saturday is probably going to be split in two sessions (morning and afternoon) - And we hope to have a big meal out sorted for everyone.

Sunday will be just us, and we'll try and get a lot of playing in!

The TTBL released the schedule for the first half of the season. Unfortunately, there will not be a match in Düsseldorf at the community meetup weekend.

This could be a blessing in disguise for us.

Hopefully it means we all get to have a bit of a practice on Friday night.

Otherwise I'll spend all day moaning that I've not acclimatised to the conditions.... Isn't that right @latej ? 😅

How many members have confirmed that will attend the event?

We should be looking at the full 48 (ish) allocation.

That includes most of the TTD Team (to be confirmed, but looks like it'll be, Chair, Dan, Tom, Beast, Tech Guy and maybe one more).

More info to be coming soon!

This video documenting the stay in CR and then Slovakia is incredible. It feels like you know my area more than I do.

You know when you say "we are in Lipa", it's 4km from my place and I didn't even know the Hytta existed. Later on I learned, well, some people say it is sometimes booked by, and for, you know, when you want to spend an exclusive night with a beautiful lady ;-)

But you organized everything yourself, really, I doubt I could do that in England... And no, you didn't complain, you were sleep deprived and on the 2nd day you beat 2 players I mostly lose to... Cheers to Dom and Craig. You are a good team.

We’ll get a documentary going for this one as well!

You’ll be the main star, Jan! 😊

No star pls... ;-) We are all stars... Whatever is happening, I AM the happening of it! ;-)

I'll be able to be there on Friday evening too (which I didn't think before).

When - at what time on Friday - will the training start? Sorry if you already answered that, but still I believe this is very interesting for all...

We are finalising the details with Dusseldorf (a few..... bumps along the way).

But it looks like the "rough" itinerary will be:

Friday: 18:00 - 22:00.

There is a group Dusseldorf training session from 18:00 - 20:00 that we can join if we want to.

From 20:00, it will just be ours.

Saturday AM Session: 09:00 - 12:00

Lunch/Break 12:00 - 16:00

Saturday PM Session: 16:00 - 19:00

Sunday: 09:00 - 15:00

These are all still TBC, but the format will be *something* like the above :)
