Any more reviews of the new blades (especially ary-x)? I am really eager to try it and give Zyre another chance with it. If the blade is slower than viscaria and has more dwell and softness it should pair perfectly i reckon.. Also expecting it to be a bit head heavy due to bigger head so Zyre again will be ideal (comparing to Trinity or other hybrids weight).

I have a friend who received the ARY-X he confirms it comes from the same factory for him as the Hugo Hal, same structure, same fiber, same shape size. For him it is a dual copy. Just the design change.
As I mentioned in an earlier message, the two blades are very similar across most parameters. However, as you can see from the two screenshots (from Joola’s and Xiom’s websites), there is a difference in the size of the blades.

Even with two blades of the same weight (Joola ARY-x vs Hugo Hal), this difference in size will affect both the overall weight (a larger blade head requires more rubber coverage) and balance. In isolation, these parameters mean the two blades won’t have exactly the same characteristics.

I’ve chosen to use the Joola ARY-x as my primary blade after several years with the Hugo Hal because I feel that the slight increase in head size, overall weight, and the fact that the ARY-x is a bit more head heavy make my setup slightly faster, less muted, and still very controlled compared to the Hugo Hal.

On that basis, I can understand why some might feel the two blades are identical, but that’s only true in terms of composition and other parameters do play an important role.

You can always make a smaller head out of a bigger one :)
We do this quite often for the guys.
I don't really like doing this for my blades because I like bigger heads, but technically there are no problems with it.

My friend measured the head size, the Ary-X is 150x157 and not 152x158.

This is interesting, so out of curiosity, can you tell me if possible weight reduction is significant with usual size reduction you do? like how much you shave off (like 1mm maybe?) and how much blade weight changed.
I guess some guys may prefer different size due to different reasons like wieght, but that's interesting for me :)

Hi, Marvin! Today I will just reduce the blade head for my friend and if I don’t forget, I will write back on reducing the blade weight, balance and increasing the frequency.
But in fact, the weight and balance of the racket as a whole will decrease more due to the reduction in the weight of the rubber, which is denser than wood and weighs more than the blade itself with the handle.
I will say for myself that when the weight of the head is large, I feel even 2-3 grams of reduction in the weight of the head due to the removed layer of glue from the rubber.
Also in the case of reducing the head, the weight will be removed from the most remote place, which has a stronger effect on the balance of the racket.

Guys who tested Joola Hugo Calderano ARY-X is it seem like Butterfly ALC blades? ( I didnt use Xiom HAL). Or ARY-X is softer than Butterfly ALC? And what about ARY-X sweet pot ? Thanks!

Review and comparison with many blades (ALC etc.)

Just got both the ARY-C and ARY-X yesterday. Placed the same rubbers on both, FH: V2C and BH: Rakza 9.
My ARY-C is 91g and ARY-X is 90g.
ARY-C is pretty weird. It's amazing at the short game and then like a few feet back from the table.
If I had to give percentages where it works, I would say:
Short game: 30%, Close to table: 20%, Mid-far from table: 50%
It feels very muted, unless you hit it hard and can activate the carbon. I get why Hugo likes it since he hits so hard. You really have to put in effort to make this blade work. If you don't hit through the carbon, the ball flies high and overshoots the table easily. Feels similar to my Chrome XAXi, difference is that the core is thicker. Not a replacement for W968 at all.

ARY-X. This blade feels much easier to use. It's crisp and feels like a Viscaria without the extra punch. I can easily hit through the blade. Close to the table, the balls fly just as fast off the rubber but it doesn't go as far. Short game feels slightly better. Far away from the table, the blade lacks strength; it feels like my balls land between the net and halfway to the end when I'm used to it landing close to the edge.
Short game: 40%, close to table: 40%, mid-far: 20%
Glad to see that Matt had a lot of the same feelings (ie. great short game, okay close to the table, and needing time to commit and hit through the carbon to get great shots) I had regarding the blade and knowing that just because he's a Joola employee doesn't mean he's only going to speak positives about it. Will also echo his comments about this blade being head heavy and if you use heavy rubbers, it's a monster in terms of weight.

Yea definitely try and give the most open review possible, I think there has to be some independence to the review otherwise it’s less credible and effectively would have no value. Giving the impression that a piece of equipment is somehow perfect is just totally inaccurate because it’s still subjective, and you will always find types of players who won’t like certain characteristics with their game.

It’s a nice setup, I can definitely see why the blade is already quite popular in China market, but my gut tells me I will like the ARY-x more with my game. We shall see! 😇
