Right then… Düsseldorf 2026 was far too successful, so naturally the sensible response is to start planning the next one almost immediately. 😂

The Badgers Tour is looking for a host for 2027! 🏓✈️🍻*

We’re thinking a similar setup:

📅 Early September 2027
✈️ Friday → Monday
🏓 Ideally matches against 2–3 local teams/clubs
🌍 Europe preferred… but if someone further afield puts together an offer we can’t refuse, we’re listening. 👀

The basic idea is simple: a long weekend somewhere interesting, plenty of table tennis, some good food, questionable sightseeing decisions and an opportunity to meet more of the TTD community.

Düsseldorf has unfortunately set the bar ridiculously high, but we’re willing to give somebody the opportunity to try. 😏

So…

So since this is the brainstorming stage, here is one idea:

The US Open Teams event is at Myrtle Beach in South Carolina - it is a holiday weekend in the US (labor day weekend) in 2027, the dates will be Saturday - Monday Sept 4-6. Will give Matt a chance to meet his doppleganger, Nathan Britt...

I’m not sure I’m as good as you though….. I travelled the short distance to @latej and moaned like a baby!

Just imagine what I’d be like crossing the Atlantic and trying to play!

Not sure about taking responsibility for you lot, but given the right weekend we could definitely have you for a weekend. I'd have to find some more people crazy enough to play with/against you though...

Tyce my friend! Yeah I really like G09c, haven't met anyone else who uses it but for me gives me bundles of spin, control and stability on my backhand! Would highly recommend!

It does not have to be Kraków. There is also Gdańsk which has a big hall.

IF I receive an approval I will send out some requests for quotes. I think communication wise Kraków is nicer and has a wife approval factor. I also know a few more people here.

The coach who runs my the tt school I am doing group trainings in right now might be helpful resource. The venue I am training on right now hosts about 16-18 tables.

PS I cannot guarantee listed venues availability, but I surely can ask about details.

The Open is an interesting idea. That's a lot more competition and opportunities to meet new people. Hard to beat a beach opportunity, too, though I don't know Myrtle Beach very well. It would be a bit less intimate than the private Düsseldorf event, though perhaps we could arrange TTD-member practices. (How large can a single team be? 😅)

My only complaint about Labor Day weekend is I'd have to skip Dragon Con for the second year in a row... 😩

For what it's worth, there are a couple of opens in September here in Georgia as well (the Paddle Palace Fall Open at my club and the USATT Georgia Open at another). There's a GRR in November, too, when the weather is nicer. But I don't know how much folks are looking for tournaments as opposed to just a place to gather and play together. For that, we can pick just about anywhere as long as there are enough tables 🙂. Come to ATL and we'll do a pedal pub crawl on Saturday and go play hungover at AGTTA on Sunday! 🚲🍻🥴🏓

One last thing I'll throw out there, because it presents interesting crossover potential: the MLTT Carolina Gold Rush are hosting an open in Charlotte, NC in November of this year. It's taking place concurrently with the MLTT matches that weekend, including hosting (and streaming) the finals of the different events in between the pro matches. If they do the same next year, that could be a really neat opportunity for some kind of TTD x MLTT content and for folks to just catch some MLTT action. Charlotte's a cool city, too.
