  1. Flared(FL) or Straight(ST)?

I think size of hands is also important. Flared is at least for my hand difficult since it gets locked into the hand. I have not small hands glove size 10-11. Straight one must train with a few sessions before you get the hold of. Otherwise, some people feel like they will drop the bat.
  2. Truls Effect - Table Tennis Becomes the Fastest Growing Sport in Sweden after Paris 2024

See this is old part of thread - but I will answer anyhow. Actually it started already in the 60s with almost every athletic/skiing club having a table tennis section. Then with Stellan and together with Alser and Johansson it really bloomed. However, the big thing was that you could find table...
  3. Returning player (AR+/OFF–) looking for versatile rubbers for Xiom Hugo HAL [no longer: Cybershape Wood]

Mantra Pro - if you have soft touch works really well for short play. If you push a bit harder then there is a point where it will go too far. If you have good feeling you will learn rather quickly. It has catapult but so has most modern rubbers including Rakza 7. If you are OK with Rakza 7 then...
  4. Returning player (AR+/OFF–) looking for versatile rubbers for Xiom Hugo HAL [no longer: Cybershape Wood]

If you are close to Stockholm Stiga has a test centre at Söder. I came back after many years. Tested some "easy" rubbers and has for now ended up with Mantra Pro M.It is an offensive rubber but not an extreme one. Has more development capacity than Rakza 7 and more forgiving for incoming...
  5. WTT Champions Montpellier 2025, 10/28-11/2

OK this kind of trash talk leads nowhere and is not interesting. I can only cite another compatriot down hill skier Ingemar Stenmark when asked about failure : I cite Do it yourself! I fail to see any substance in this citing trying to prove superiority. They are all good players let's enjoy...
  6. WTT Champions Montpellier 2025, 10/28-11/2

Cannot agree that Moregardhs open game is crappy. Look at how he won Europe Smash outplaying Lin Shidong. Further, his strength is variety and often not so predictive. G4 he lost because he lost focus at the same time as Dang Qui improved his level. True his forehand is strong but backhand is...
  7. WTT Champions Montpellier 2025, 10/28-11/2

I think Truls was nervous in the beginning playing Dima. How much noise he makes is more about his general feeling sometimes not necessarily who's the opponent. He has actually been beaten by Anton a few times. If Anton has confidence he is really dangerous to almost any player.
  8. WTT Champions Montpellier 2025, 10/28-11/2

Dima has real sportsmanship - very strange yellow card!
  9. WTT Champions Montpellier 2025, 10/28-11/2

Dima has been acting as a mentor for Truls.
  10. WTT Champions Montpellier 2025, 10/28-11/2

Truls did not play Euros because of injury. It might get intense a match between him and Kallberg having played each other many times.
  11. Best Viscaria higher quality alternative

OK thank you - personally flared is too small for my hands. The bat gets locked into my grip and I loose a lot of flexibility unfortunately!
  12. Best Viscaria higher quality alternative

Inspira plus - handle is that concave/flared or straight?
  13. China Smash 2025

Sorry - Truls complained about the knee but said it wasn't the knee that caused him losing. He said Uda played really well! In the first set he was faulted for tossing the ball at an angle larger than 30 degrees. The referee was positioned so she couldn't see the toss. Viewing it from the...
  14. Met former Sweden natl player from 1980s/90s name "Peter" today at work

Most likely Peter Karlsson, European champion single, world champion double and I think four time world champion team. Belongs to the Waldner Persson generation. I envy you this meeting :)
  15. New Stiga Mantra Pro

For me the throw is lower then Rakza 7 but higher than Stiga DNA hybrid comparing the M versions of Stiga.
  16. New Stiga Mantra Pro

Hello I find that one need to clean the Mantra Oro regularily in order to keep the grip. Doing so I do not find Mantra Pro lacking grip in short play. The ball dig in for me. Maybe need good techinque involving short loops in order to lift backspin.
  17. 50 degrees Hybrid comparisons (DNA hybrid H vs Bluestar A2 vs. Rising Dragon 2 vs. Golden Tango PS)

DNA Hybrid H is not slow. It is comparable in speed with Mantra Pro H. Maybe a bit slower but not by much. Difference is that it has lower throw but is easier to lift still. It is harder even though 50 sponge both of them but not terribly much harder feel.
  18. Grip tape

I find many blades have too small handle for me. My current preference, in avoiding grip tape, what that I found the Donic Waldner Offensive, very fitting for my hands. I play quite offensive but the right rubber works really well even if 5ply wood. It is large more like a straight but with a...
  19. Can Dan & Tom get Helix Platinum to review?

Is it easier to lift backspin compared to original platinum or Mantra Pro?
