  1. OSP Elcon Handle + custom flare: The ultimate handle for large hands?

So I'm quite tall at 6'4", with large hands to match. Options for large-handed folks like myself are extremely limited. I've been using two different blades with large handles, and I haven't been satisfied with either of them. One is a Stiga Arctic Wood with the Legend Flare handle. While the...
  2. Are inner carbon blades an exception to "don't go carbon yet"?

So I'm around 1200 (RITTA league play) . My game is mostly offensive, with decent loops and drives on both wings, but also lots of slices and close-to-the table touch play. I'm getting professional coaching and and am steadily improving. My game is getting faster and more consistent. I have...
  3. Stiga quality

The other thing I would point out is that applying rubbers, if done well, requires meticulous craftsmanship. If one is already doing this, then you have some skill. Therefore sealing, or a quick sanding of the blade, with a flat sanding block, is nothing. Pick your battles I guess :)
  4. Stiga quality

Does "you really need to seal the blade due to the woods they use" equal "quality control problem?" I don't think it does. Much like "you need to get your oil changed" doesn't imply a problem with your car. I have carefully sealed my Stiga, and I don't expect to have any issues. We shall see...
  5. Stiga quality

Digging up an old thread here, I wanted to add that the Stiga Arctic Wood I recently purchased has been amazing. Build quality and fit/finish is impeccable, and it plays extremely well. None of the edges are sanded, but I don't think this is a negative. To the contrary, the crisp edges only...
  6. I'm cured of EJ disease, but now I am depressed...

I hear you. I recently got a Stiga Arctic Wood with the oh-so-rare Legend Flare handle and I’m absolutely dismayed to say that it’s…. perfect. Such a bummer.
  7. Setup for limited mobility player?

I can’t tell what’s a joke vs a recommendation on pips out here. Can someone please clarify and be more specific with recommendations? Thanks
  8. Setup for limited mobility player?

Excellent. I’ll check those out. Thanks!
  9. Setup for limited mobility player?

I have an elderly family member who has tried and very much enjoys table tennis. She had hip surgery a few months ago and has recovered remarkably well. Playing some light table tennis has been approved by her doctors as a good idea for her ongoing recovery and overall health. She has great...
  10. OSP Virtuoso OFF- vs Stiga Arctic Wood

I’ve been itching to try a Stiga Legend handle for my big hands — pretty rare to find one these days — and one came up on the Arctic Wood, so I ordered one. What differences should I expect to see compared to my current Virtuoso OFF-? I’d like to know so that I can pick rubbers for it...
  11. Do you have more than one racket that you regularly use?

So if I’m understanding you correctly, you’re using the other rackets to try out other rubbers before making the rubber switch on the primary racket?
  12. Do you have more than one racket that you regularly use?

Or do you think it's better to focus on only one racket at a time? I'm torn on this. I have two setups that I quite like, and it's fun to occasionally swap between the two and enjoy the benefits that one has over the other. They are fairly similar, so it's not night and day and doesn't seem to...
  13. Virtuoso OFF- and Rakza 7, now seeking a faster rubber

Following up, I've now been playing with Fastarc G1 Max for about 12 hours. The results are as expected: Slower and faster than R7 Slower and more controlled over the table, due to less catapult. Tons of control with serves and slices. Significantly less bouncy than the R7. Faster than R7 at...
  14. Sealing, gluing, and wood quality

So when I got my OSP Virtuoso a while back, I went down the rabbit hole of "should I seal my blade, and what glue should I use to prevent the wood being damaged when I change rubbers".... said rabbit hole is full of horror stories about how your blade might be damaged if you don't seal the blade...
  15. Lightweight rubber for backhand

Thanks for everyone’s input. I’m going to try the Nittaku Factive 2.0 and report back.
  16. Lightweight rubber for backhand

I’m seeing cut weights for light rubbers in the low 40’s, and Rakza 7 closer to 50… so is 5-6 really so unrealistic?
  17. Lightweight rubber for backhand

And the weight? Significantly lighter than R7? Not looking for huge reductions here, 5-6 grams lighter would probably be enough.
  18. Lightweight rubber for backhand

Thank you! I hadn’t considered this one, and having now looked into it, it does indeed seem like a good option. Odd that it doesn’t come up more when searching for “lightweight backhand rubbers”. Is this because it’s fairly new? Or simply that it gets drowned out by more popular options?
  19. Lightweight rubber for backhand

Interesting. Haven’t heard this one before. Care to elaborate? Thanks
