  1. I've trained with 20+ top coaches in the world and I still suck :) - AMA

Not a problem in the US to hire high level coaches if you can pay. They are all over the country. In fact, most of their students are "rando" hobby players. Literally anyone can contact coaches like Gao Jun or Tawny Banh and arrange for a lesson. I have taken lessons from Wei Wang, US Nat'l...
  2. Chondromalacia Patella (Knee Pain) – Experience from TT players

It's called medical science. My experience is based on having similar issues to the OP and seeing a specialist MD in sports medicine that treats NBA/MLB players and being prescribed physical therapy and orthotics. It worked. "It's 99% weak muscles" is why I stated that OP should not listen to...
  3. Chondromalacia Patella (Knee Pain) – Experience from TT players

I am not a doctor, be skeptical when you are getting advise from random internet people. So take this for what it is worth. If the root cause is flat feet, then all the other things suggested may help at the margin, but you need to address this. Flat feet allows your lower leg to rotate...
  4. Chondromalacia Patella (Knee Pain) – Experience from TT players

You were prescribed physical therapy by a medical doctor? Was the doctor an orthopedist/sports medicine specialist? Were your feet and ankle evaluated dynamically to see how they affect the alignment of the knee? Did your physio include any foot/ankle evaluation? For example, if you stand too...
  5. The Inverse — A reversed frypan🍳 backhand

Looks like a player who has used LP/anti and switched back to inverted. It's effective for his game. If he could wait until the last second and do a chiquita, it would really throw off his opponent. He's halfway there to a Anders Lind/Simon Gauzy raise the elbow backhand sideswipe.
  6. New Equipment choice feedback

go to colestt.com, email cole and he can recommend some cheap rubbers that will be just fine, most likely these will be more than enough to get better with
  7. To lob or not to lob?

Looking at your video, work on your basic skills first. If you like having fun lobbing, do a little to keep things interesting. Watch videos of Vladimir Samsonov. When forced away from the table he played a style called fishing where he semi lobs. Note how he is fishing with spin to try to get...
  8. Self-Resetting Flip Pad for Table Tennis Training – Thoughts?

I was probably not so clear in my earlier comments. I mean do not build the thing you show in your video. My idea is attach an Airtag to an object like a small block of wood. If you want to make it look nicer, make a plastic stand/holder for the Airtag. Use a phone for the counter. The only...
  9. Self-Resetting Flip Pad for Table Tennis Training – Thoughts?

Interesting idea, I agree that this is too complicated. Why do you want to make new hardware for this? Any way to use a tracker device like an Airtag/Tile? Airtag has an accelerometer. Can you just mount an Airtag to something and get the accelerometer output to sense hits? You can definitely...
  10. THE AFTERMATH

If TTD had an AI feature, I would ask it the following: "Hey TTDGpt, what's up with Igor?" TTDGpt answer: Igor is a well known poster on TTD who periodically posts the same topics over and over. These topics include, oily booster detectors, toy like LP friction testers, and boosting rubber...
  11. How to play against flat hitter?

If I was the hitter playing the OP, I would probably be thinking this: The opponent has a weak topspin game, I can let him open anytime because his loop is very easy to smash and he hits it to predictable spots every time so I barely have to move to return it. If he pushes, I give him deep no...
  12. Finger print test on rubber to prevent fancy materials. Definately sound idea.

I would boost this sponge with the ab roller, turning it into anti anti super pooper
  13. Is D09C the ultimate, the holy grail of rubber?

Can someone ask ChatGPT about Igor?
  14. Best serve receive tutorials?

Hire a coach to work on serve receive. In your other thread about trying to get from from 1900 to 2100 you talk about not wanting to hire a coach. This is where you need a coach.
  15. I Challenged A Pro With A Mystery Table Tennis Bat!

BTY rubber chart has always showed Rozena as faster than Glayzer, so not a surprise I have played both, Rozena is faster, Glayzer has more grip and is spinnier, so Kanak is right on when he says Rozena is more powerful as he equates power with speed. Kanak's usual setup is double D05, so he...
  16. Identification of the sponge is due and overdue.

I can buy Andro Rasanter R37, 42, 47, 48, 50, 53, C45, 48, 53 today - if a pro happens to have 52 or 55 sponge, how can it be said that this is "significant" variance? BTW, is there any requirement in racket control to take off a players rubber to measure sponge hardness? Remember the OP of...
  17. Identification of the sponge is due and overdue.

When buying rubber at retail, there is variance. A rubber marked 50 is not 50.00000, it is 50 plus/minus a degree or so. What is the tolerance for sponge hardness in the Joola contract with ESN for normal retail product? Any product for pros can be simply chalked up to normal manufacturing...
  18. United Table Tennis Players Association

Most likely will have minimal impact The sport must be making real money before a players union can credibly threaten the league operators The NBA players union get about 50% of revenue because they can tell the owners union this "You can have half of $10 billion this year or all of zero" TT...
  19. How do I save this old Timo Boll Spirit?

I would fix it by clipping out all the overhanging crap, then repair with wood epoxy. After mixing, it's like putty, so very easy to use and easy to start over if you mess up. If you don't know what you are doing, avoid superglue. It dries really fast, so easy to screw it up.
