@NextLevel I may have to make a small trip to see you and convince you that your FH AND the BH can be deadly fast with some short stroke magic, timing, and impact, given you see what happened with opponent's impact.
  2. Why doesn't Nittaku fastarc G-1 spin as much as my soft tensor rubber can?

In older days, I simply performed better with teh softer modern dynamic sponged rubber o Fh. Then, after a number of years, I got better control of ball into strike zone, better bat speed, better timing and impact, so medium or medium hard sponged rubbers suited me on FH. On BH, I could use any...
  3. My Race Tournaments in Germany

@Zezima I like you comment about have better technique... but so good results. I frequently tell the children, teenage, and adult learners where I coach that the MIDDLE shots, the non-attacking shots determine who will have the advantage to win or lose the point. The next area setting a...
  4. Why doesn't Nittaku fastarc G-1 spin as much as my soft tensor rubber can?

Of course the player could soften up the sponge of the rubber he or she likes a lot and make it easier to engage the topsheet and sponge... but tuning in the end is a big hassle and you have to treat it every few weeks. Too much trouble for this trouble maker, but if you into that, get into that.
  5. Why doesn't Nittaku fastarc G-1 spin as much as my soft tensor rubber can?

The reason why nearly all players cannot make as much spin with a harder sponged similar kind of topsheet rubber is that the player does not have the bat speed, timing to impact, and control of grip pressure needed to make more spin over the softer rubber. The softer sponged modern rubbers are...

  7. The jetlag makes a flagrant injustice for all the non Asians.

Yes. This is how a true trouble maker talks. I wish someone would actually do that trouble and convince other national govt to host moar events. viel glück ...
  8. The jetlag makes a flagrant injustice for all the non Asians.

@lodro You shoulda told our dear friend Igor that one day, a long pips player will take charge as ITTF Prez and so will many member nations... and a resolution will pass mandating long pips as the only authorized racket covering. Igor would luv that.

  10. OMG she laid out the HUGE nugget, then followed it up with a dozen more !

...of how to adjust for so many different balls... that totally go against what many amateur players and coaches have been saying for years... OMGH, she also discusses the importance of ball placement. I have forever said TT is about consistency and placement with enough quality... often good...
  11. Match tactics

[Quote=Dude who Gets it} IMHO, given his limitations, he needs to improve his understanding of whip mechanics, where he starts his racket, and his follow through needs to wrap the ball as well [/Quote} NL just laid it out in the simplest terms possible.
  12. Match tactics

@Zezima you are currently where I was a few years ago in this area... it can be greatly improved. You need the timing of ball to strike zone... c=that can be both easy and difficult.
  13. Match tactics

Hi @Zezima I have previously responded here and also on your youtube channel before... If you want to counter an incoming topspin ball some energy coming at you, (spin, speed or both) simply loosen your hand, allow ball to come to you... use a TINY forward stroke with a LOOSE grip on bat...

  15. Playing in cold halls

If you do not have club ladies heating up stuff for you... then you can still make your body make heat by drinking water and eating in between events.
  16. Playing in cold halls

In Korea, where the halls in fall and winter are literally 1 degree C, the women of the club setup shop on second floor of the stadium, get a 100 seat allocation... they are constantly boiling hot soup and water... In between events, it does not hurt to drink some tea or hot choco. Eating a hot...
  17. Playing in cold halls

Some people are very sensitive about toes getting cold when sitting down. My advise would be Morino Wool socks. Every country makes some fine ones - they perform well in both high heat and cold. They are more expensive than regular socks by up to 3x, but they are worth it. Morino Wool socks are...
  18. Playing in cold halls

In the cold hall, if you HAVE to sit down for more than a few minutes, understand that the majority of body heat loss leaves from head, armpits, and any open exposed clothes... (Think your neck and man-zone.) Covering those areas when sitting makes a lot of sense. You do not need a ski parka...
  19. Playing in cold halls

Warm you bat up. Really. Cold rubbers do not perform well - not very dynamic when cold. Place it on belly and under arm until it is warm. It is easy to make yourself warm, just explode and move around. The rubber needs more attention.

I assessed my last US Open performance just like that and called it by far my best tourney performance ever. I think I went 4 wins 8 losses and gained very few ratings points, so it looks weak by the W/L measure, but that does not tell the story at all. In such a comp, you play vs 10 players...
