  1. Which brands are most popular in each country?

I see no one has answered from the UK yet, but I'd be curious to know what others over here think. For us UK folk, we are severely limited if we want to buy from a UK based retailer. Tees Sport are predominantly Butterfly (although they do have other stuff), and Bribar is predominantly Tibhar...
  2. Are Butterfly shoes worth the high price?

Gotcha. OK, well I think both myself and @Wrighty67 cover all sides of the conversation here. The biggest question regarding shoes should be..... How comfortable do you find them (assuming we are talking specifically about table tennis shoes). Whether that means you pay an extra £40 to get...
  3. Are Butterfly shoes worth the high price?

In a word. No. Are you UK based (I noticed the £ symbol in your post). If so, I think you'll find Mizuno (Bribar usually have a decent range) will be the best bet. I'm a UK12 in most shoes, but found a UK11 to be perfect in Mizuno - They seem to come up really big.
  4. Dignics 05 vs Tenergy 05-FX - Which one is faster?

D05 is fantastic for BH flicks and punches. Make no mistake, T05 isn't bad, but it's a little bouncy for serve return (especially when compared with D05). I find I can play fuller strokes with D05 due to the lower trajectory, and I actually find the spin is very deceptive. The shots don't...
  5. Hiding Contact Point?!

Hey Lando, I would advise against simply serving to his backhand when doing a pendulum serve - If nothing else, it'll make you more predictable. One option you could look at is hitting the ball closer to the middle of the table - This way you'll be able to do your pendulum serve down the line...
  6. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

A good coach will adapt their coaching to suit the student. A good student will adapt their play to suit the opponent - As you masterfully showed against the older woman who is a very good blocker. You explained that by changing your faster attacks for slower spins, you won the game easily...
  7. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Like with most things in TT over the last 50 years, the only major changes I can see involve the very top players (professional). There is a slight trickle down to the various levels below that, and there have been very small coaching theory changes for juniors/beginners..... But IMO, 99%...
  8. Blade advice outer/inner ALC

But you are trying to improve by changing something that works for you in all aspects apart from one..... rather than work on the one aspect (your BH) that would improve your game more. Again, it's hard to comment without seeing you play - But from what you've said, I would stick with the...
  9. Re-sealing a blade for each new sheet?

OK, it'll all come down to personal preference, but I would be very surprised if people sealed their blades more than once.
  10. Blade advice outer/inner ALC

It's very hard to say - We usually have a slightly different thought of how we play, to how we actually play. My gut feeling is that you should stick with the Korbel and improve your backhand through better technique. I can comfortably hit absolute bombs with a wooden blade and D09c on the...
  11. Re-sealing a blade for each new sheet?

With the newer water based glue, I never seal my blades. I change rubbers every 3-6 months, depending on how much I play - I've never had an issue with blades chipping (just be careful when removing the old rubbers). I know people who do seal their blades, but it's usually just a one time...
  12. Blade advice outer/inner ALC

Hey MrGeorge, Is it possible to add some video of you playing? Just basic FH and BH should be fine. My initial reaction is..... It won't make any difference, and to not waste any more money. I feel people often try and gain more power from the equipment, when it's really the technique that...
  13. Don't blame the rubber if you don't get enough spin.

Perfect. Context really is everything here, and that’s why it’s so important to be able to showcase your ability level whilst trying to make a point. I mean no offence to BB here, but I couldn’t care less about his academic background. To be frank, the posts are far too boring for a table...
  14. Don't blame the rubber if you don't get enough spin.

Just to save me looking, does anyone have links to the videos BB posted of his play?
  15. Horrible backhand, stiff wrist.

I started writing, and clearly couldn’t stop….. if you read it all, you are a better man than most! 😂 I like your point about easy access to videos - That would be really helpful!
  16. Horrible backhand, stiff wrist.

OK, so I’m going to attempt to wade in on this….. Which may make it worse, and as I’m on my phone, it will probably be disjointed! 😂 Any user who has been around a while knows I’ve always advocated for people to upload videos of themselves, and I’ve posted about the benefits in other threads...
  17. Good source of insoles for sport shoes

Those are the ones! They do lots of different types, so it just depends what you want. I wouldn’t say they are revolutionary, but they do ok for me!
  18. Good source of insoles for sport shoes

I always replace the insoles with Dr Scholl. They just provide a little more cushion for the key pressure points.
  19. Horrible backhand, stiff wrist.

I can block like that sometimes as well, and it's usually an instinct type thing.... But when I really try and get my wrist straight, force my head down and closer to the ball whilst staying low..... I find my blocking shots become much better (and then the rest of the game becomes better!) I...
