  1. Butterfly Zyre 03

It’s a 5 ply, composition - Hinoki / Padauk / Kiri / Padauk / Hinoki. weight - 86.9 grams balance - very low - 1.7mm Frequency - 1080Hz yes it is a pretty slow blade!! When I got it Sergio ’hoped’ I’d get on with the Hinoki veneers!! I’ve had a few different rubbers on it and never really had...
  2. Fastarc G1 or Glayzer 09c?

I used Glazer and G09C a couple of years ago, Glazer is faster than G09C. The players that I coach and one of the other coaches, who is a much better player than me are using G1, in the next couple of days I have to swap some G1’s for him, old coming off and going onto his 2nd set up and new G1...
  3. Butterfly Zyre 03

I’m not bragging. But I can play with it on an all wood blade that’s the point.
  4. Butterfly Zyre 03

If he’s using carbon / fibre’s then Z03 will be very quick!!! between the 2 all wood blades I currently have Z03 on - one rated about 1080Hz and the other about 1205Hz the speed difference is very noticeable!! I prefer the slower blade!!
  5. Fastarc G1 or Glayzer 09c?

Better hybrid options are available compared to G09C, maybe a tad more expensive though. G1 plays well for some of the people I coach, great performance / price point.
  6. Butterfly Zyre 03

One thing to do is ensure the rubber is clean, even more so than hybrids, I’ve found the ball slips off very easily when there is some dust on the surface. Sure, not really any different to other rubbers but i think this happens with less dust than other rubbers.
  7. Hybrid rubber comparison (and durability)

Looks like ESN have tweaked the top sheet formulas in the latest Gen rubbers - more durability for Nunz, & O8 series, are Bluegrip J series better as well?
  8. WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025, 12/10-14

CNT’s Misson Impossible face mask machine broke down so they couldn’t send out FZD in disguise!!!
  9. Chopping with short pips?

A chop with inverted can be evil !! Especially when defence turns to attack!! I played some topspins v chopper using C55 and Z03 on FH last week, C55 was evil, Z03 was worse!! Much faster, same thing when he attacked!! We were just mucking about, he tried Z03 for the first time, it was just...
  10. Technique correction - Trying to Fix my FH backstroke + hitting through the sponge

Great training aid!! Good for close to the table, away from the table then more arm can be used.
  11. Which Blade for new rubbers?

when EJing try to do so efficiently!!! Choose 1 blade and buy 3 !! use 2 for match play and training, with the same rubbers and stick to them for the competitive season (if you play tournaments or league matches) use the 3rd for EJing / testing rubbers short term - perhaps a couple of weeks or...
  12. Hybrid rubber comparison (and durability)

O8 China and Hybrid have better top sheet durability compared to J&H H52, J&H H52 marks up where ball contact happens the most resulting in a slippy patch, which can’t be rejuvenated by cleaning. I’ve heard the same happens with C55, but I don’t have any experience with C55. Tau 2 is extremely...
  13. Butterfly Zyre 03

This week I have been attending a course run by Tom Lodziak. One of the additional coaches, Martin is a very good player, even though he has some health issues he plays in France as well as the UK at a high level. During lunch break he came over and asked if he could try my bat with Z03. So we...
  14. Difference between xiom omega 8 china and hybrid

I was using O8H on FH and O8C on BH, I found both to be pretty similar really. I preferred O8C on BH. Spin potential is high with both, speed was not really noticeable as being faster or slower. Maybe the O8C felt crisper on my BH. I feel these 2 rubbers are pretty interchangeable really. I’ve...
  15. Butterfly Zyre 03

I moved Z03 onto a slightly faster all wood blade, noticed extra speed straight away but it wasn’t any more uncontrollable, after a few hits getting use to the additional speed I was back on point!! The ‘feel’ of Z03 (for me) is great, I’m still getting my head around the fact that I actually...
  16. Serve and serve return recovery

Weight shift helps for added power and speed for long serves and length control / consistency for 1/2 long / short serves. Use relaxed wrist / fingers / hand for spin. I have noticed that many players have limited wrist flexibility and a pretty tight grip when I’m coaching serves. They can still...
  17. Serve and serve return recovery

They also lower their body into the serve, this helps keep the serve low and helps get them into a low ready position.
  18. Serve and serve return recovery

If you are practicing serves, you should also include the recovery into ready position. The issue is that when we learn a serve, we are concentrating on the ball contact, feel, flight, bounce, depth etc which is pretty normal at first!! We serve and ball watch!! We are not 100% sure that we...
  19. First custom racket

    Great combo!!
  20. New rubber time. Help?

I’ve used a few defensive blades, but if I had to choose one blade it would be the BTY Primorac all wood - Japan version. If that’s not available then the Std Primorac all wood. ( the ‘Japan’ version is made in Japan and has better build quality / materials. I believe the Std version is made in...
