  1. Penhold Xu Xin vs Liu Guoliang Forehand

I honestly think you're over thinking this one. I don't see those pictures, look at their wrist angle on that singular shot and say "Oh it's straight, oh it's flexed. They must be playing with X style of wrist in it being loose or stiff". It's just a still frame for that one particular shot in...
  2. Penhold Xu Xin vs Liu Guoliang Forehand

I'm just going to assume the OP didn't know Liu played short pips. That'd be like comparing Ma Long's stroke to Johnny Huang. What are we doing here? If you're a penholder and looking for technique, just depends on what you play. If you play inverted, there's only a million good penholder...
  3. Where do you buy your equipment from?

Central US here. Blades? - GamblerTT. (affordable and I just think they make really nice blades) Rubbers? - I've always been a Chinese tacky guy so mostly Ali. Every now & then colesTT who is local. Mostly pips from him. Butterfly gear? I've purchased 1 butterfly product in my life and it was...
  4. What's a good blade for CPEN: SP FH and RPB BH

Ah snap I had to edit my post. Just realized you're a SP forehand player with inverted BH RPB. In that case I have a different view & recommendation. Because you're not really spinning it much on the SP forehand, lets lean into that pure speed & power smash game. Gambler Balsa Knight...
  5. We Challenged Table Tennis Powerhouse Dimitrij Ovtcharov!

That arm with the toss is awfully suspect.
  6. Benyamin Faraji defeats Lin Shidong

I'm watching the replay now. Gracious his FH is huge. He plays like a penholder almost. Certainly he has a good BH but his serve step around game is outstanding. Great power and probably his best weapon is that his inside-out FH is every bit as good as the natural cross-court FH. He loads up...
  7. Do you teach or correct other people's techniques?

Nah I wouldn't. Not for someone I don't know, am not friends with or if they don't ask me. Those people who go around offering unsolicited advice IMO are really annoying. I just think they can be a bit of a turn-off for new people coming on a bit strong. I've seen it happen where someone is...
  8. I am a TPB-only player for now. Out of curiosity, is it easier to do TPB with Cpen or Jpen?

For those Jpeners out there who are traditional in style. Meaning not two-sided or anything like that (I made a post earlier why you should try it but anyways), recent posts here have talked about how to get a lot of wrist action. See that heavier set kid in the videos above and now this over...
  9. I am a TPB-only player for now. Out of curiosity, is it easier to do TPB with Cpen or Jpen?

I've played with both. While I can do a RPB backhand, I much prefer TPB for various reasons. So which one to play? I've played plenty with both. I'm convinced Cpen is better choice and the reason is simple. You have more options on your backhand with Cpen vs Jpen. Even if you're a TPB type...
  10. Disappointed on myself

we've all likely been there at some point or another. It comes a little with age and mental maturity. Part of the problem is that we put value in what we are in this game and that when we think about it is just a mistake. It's just a game largely dictated by how much practice time and/or...
  11. Does booster bottle lose properties like shampoo over time?

While I'm certain that booster, like pretty much everything, loses it's effectiveness or potency over time, I've had Falco Long booster for many years and it still curls rubbers. Now to be clear, I'm not really looking for an aggressive boosting. I don't like fighting rubbers wanting to curl up...
  12. Best (simplest to use) editing software for table tennis matches?

So I used to use open shot. Then my teenager, who is probably among other kids who do video editing more often, told me about capcut. It ticks all the boxes in what I'm looking for. - Free - Good in-built tools to make your video look good - Easy to pick up. - no water mark or anything like that...
  13. Quadri Aruna losing to LP

I think he was playing light hearted. Maybe not 100% intensity but I think he was trying to win. Even still he almost did. But he lost. If he played this gal on the tour regularly, I'm sure he'd adjust and she'd never win again. But I'm assuming this is the first time he's ever played her and...
  14. Who is currently the Highest-ranked JPEN player?

Might technically have a Jpen blade but it's a two sided one and uses the RPB. If that's the case or if the OP is looking for someone to emulate their game after, then there are a slew of Cpen users who play basically the same game. I know there are two sided Jpens out there but when I think...
  15. Who is currently the Highest-ranked JPEN player?

I can't really think of anyone. Having said that, Moriya Tsubasa 森屋翼, is really a skilled player. I follow him and his channel because I'm a lefty penholder so I take observations from that perspective. I don't think you really need elite, elite, say top 20 players in the world to get...
  16. Help with Jpen and short pips for attack

I'll just be real because I used to play Jpen back in the day. I don't know why anybody in their right mind who is a single wing traditional backhand user naturally with their Jpen wouldn't just move to Cpen and play the same way but throw either an Anti or LPs on the other side for the...
  17. Felix Lebrun lost 14 direct points on serve when faced Wang Chuqin

Sad but true. If you want to have a chance to win to at least stay even, you kinda have to. it's sad but it is what it is. TableTennis11 talked about this in one video they put out some time back. Now the whole video is interesting but at this point in the video one at 21:24 one of them talks...
  18. Felix Lebrun lost 14 direct points on serve when faced Wang Chuqin

All I know is that it makes me feel better to know even pros sometimes run into a player who has a serve that gives them fits. Easier pill to swallow for us mere hobbyist when we run into that. ;)
  19. Thin glue for gluing OX rubbers

I've messed with OX in the past and from a recent go at it, a glue sheet seems to be the easiest method for me. Just make sure you get the super sticky side of it on the rubber and not the blade. Other than that, easy peasy.
  20. Doubts-should i go to jpen rpb or stick to one sided jpen.

I've always felt like when I hit with Jpen, they have loads of power but don't spin it nearly as well. (but they are sweet looking and super comfortable) IMO it's because they're typically 8-10mm thick or so. Stiff and have a lot of weight. So it's like hitting the ball with a baseball bat...
