  1. Affordable training plastic balls

Interesting. That hasn't been my impression at all and club members certainly would have said something to me given there are many with strong opinions on balls there.
  2. Affordable training plastic balls

So I'm in charge of our club in a city here in the midwest US... Part of this answer depends on your location and how quickly or regular access you have to X ball. Let me tell you right now stay away from the Nittaku J-top ball. That thing is hot garbage and cracks under regular play all the...
  3. Where to find heavy wind resistant balls?

I just don't see the point. So if you do find a ball you can play with outside, then it's way different from real table tennis when you play inside. IDK. I just don't see the appeal at all of TT outside given the wind situation.
  4. Best Chinese sticky rubbers that don't need boosting

Yeah that is cheaper but in this particular case I wanted it sooner and I got to support a supplier here in the US so I'm fine with it.
  5. Best Chinese sticky rubbers that don't need boosting

So I've recently had two training sessions of Loki China Arthur. $24 so it's pretty affordable. Granted I'm coming off a stint where I rolled the dice on Yinhe Mercury 2 which is actually okay but yeah there's a spin difference here for sure. I really like it (the Loki I'm talking here)...
  6. Does anybody else mentally fall apart against pure pushers or weird styles?

I'll just say this because I only learned this trick many years after playing and I wish I was wiser to it sooner. For the OP. There are many types of pushes. If your push game stinks, you might by in large push the same pretty much every time. Just get the ball on and I'm just waiting until I...
  7. Is short pips answer to receiving serves?

No. Short pips will still react to the spin. If someone serves it and you're not 100% sure what's on it or if it's so much you have a hard time controlling it, you'll still struggle. IMO service receive, if you play a good server, is the hardest part of this game. Just takes time & experience...
  8. SpinSight users post your experience and reviews

When you say this, I'm assuming your test was essentially taking a while ball and with a black sharpie coloring similar circles all over it much like the official spinsight balls? And it wasn't successful? Just curious as to a workaround. I haven't tested it but another person in this thread...
  9. Marty Supreme table tennis film

Went to go see the movie. It was entertaining. I'm glad I watched it. It was okay for me. Not bad. Not great. I think the acting seemed good but the main character of the movie how he's portrayed isn't exactly a standup guy or someone who is easy to get behind. Not that I was expecting that...
  10. Marty Supreme table tennis film

Sure well I never expected that. It will always be a niche sport in the US. But I help run our weekly club in a city here in the Midwest part of the country. On a given week night during our 5 hour open span we get anywhere from about 20-30 people come & go throughout the night. If you were to...
  11. Marty Supreme table tennis film

Even if the TT action isn't all that realistic, as the OP asked, I don't think it matters much. I really don't care. If it just reminds people of the game or gets people interested in playing TT, then that's a win.
  12. Chopping with short pips?

It's pretty simple why they choose SPs. They want more control over the spin you return back in a chop. LPs by in large works with what's given to you in reversing the spin. With short pips, the ball doesn't reverse and they can depending on their chop decide to chop heavy backspin, chop...
  13. Is it unfair to say “yes”/“cho” when the opponent makes an error?

If you're around the game long enough, sooner or later you just see this. You just largely ignore it. Now do I give a yes or cho off a clear error? No. I think it's a little bad form. So from that standpoint, I see the point they're trying to make. At the same time, I understand there's an...
  14. How to play with a hard ball?

OP, You'll get used to whatever ball you play with if you just give it enough time. A good tip I heard somewhere is that whenever your signing up for a tournament, well beforehand, find out what ball they're using, order that ball and give yourself time to get use to it.
  15. Hurricane 3 commercial OS durabilty

I think you should get use to the idea that any rubber that can pick a ball off the table and hold it a few seconds or longer typically can't do that within a week or so. Even with cleaning & rubber protectors. But that's okay. So long as the ball doesn't slip when you try to slide it across...
  16. Beginner: transition to BH pips or anti

It's been my experience that anti's with their thicker sponge soak up the spin or pace and slow the game down. They don't reverse as much making them easier to play but also IMO in some instances less dangerous as far as generating errors from the opponent. But if he has an extra sheet of anti...
  17. Beginner: transition to BH pips or anti

So I have a lot of experience in this topic and in testing things. For context and a brief summary. So I play penhold and I use the same side when I attack & block / punch with my inverted. That means there's another side of the paddle I never use. I've tried inverted on there for attacking...
  18. Harmless boosters. Why not?

Oh I can tell you. This one is easy. It has nothing to do if it's healthy or unhealthy. The top table tennis brands don't want you buying cheaper rubbers & boosting them yourself when they can boost them at the factory for you and charge $90+ for them. It's all about business in partnerships...
  19. Penhold Xu Xin vs Liu Guoliang Forehand

Well sure on your last point there. I won't argue that shakehand is far more popular and always will be. I guess that point I was making that on the pro scene, the type of penholders you said you like who are the oldschool single wing penholders with TPB are certainly dead on the pro scene...
  20. Penhold Xu Xin vs Liu Guoliang Forehand

Has gone away on the pro scene. On the amateur level, you can be easily play this style and be very good if you like. You probably know this I just think it's important to differentiate the game we see on TV and the game we all play. The possibilities for varying styles for all of us are much...
