  1. Playing a local league defensive player using negative tactics

Against these guys I like to push long and fast, with a bit of spin. So that they generally return a long one and I can loop that ball easier. If you know they don't attack much, then you can try pushing long/fast multiple times until they send one long. Provided you can stay in it long enough!
  2. AntiSpin Rubber

Many times you don't even need to pull back, especially with anti and dampening sponge. All you have to do is lessen the grip pressure. Hold the blade so loosely where it's about to fall out of your hand and the ball goes back very, very short! What the OP is worried about is when facing no spin...
  3. What style of player or rating group below your level give you the most trouble?

But good anti/LP players will send it back to a bad angle for you. It's not a light top spin coming to your sweet spot in a gift wrapped box! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b03HJA6cxwM
  4. Best Long Pip Blockers?

Well, I guess it depends on how much time the kids are taking up. Maybe Oliver wasn't playing for weeks/months at a time. But anyway, glad this thread could become part long pip player-part parenting tips corner :P
  5. Best Long Pip Blockers?

Seems to be true even for lower levels! When I was doing the LP blocking style, some people would just do really 'paddy cake' style returns. Kind of bopping the ball back over without much of anything, and up fairly high. They'd do this until they could hit a winner against me. So I stopped...
  6. Butterfly Gionis All+ for offensive intermediate player?

What about gionis offensive? It's a bit stiffer/faster than the all+ version. Found it fairly clunky, both of them actually.
  7. Best Long Pip Blockers?

Oh, sorry there tropical if it wasn't clear enough in the post. I was asking about PLAYERS who are long pip blockers, not the actual pips to use per se. Unless you're tossing your hat into the ring! :p
  8. Best Long Pip Blockers?

Best Long Pip Blocking players? Anyone have a good list, or at least a few names, of some of the best long pip blocking players? Either amateur or professional, though most likely amateur at this point! Players who use their LP's to block the majority of points and shots. Not really those...
  9. Short pips on FH

Ah yes, common feeling... you want the best attributes of all rubbers in one! lol... To play the blocking game, you generally want a faster less spin sensitive SP to block and smash, but then it's not as good for chopping. So you pick one with a trade off. Do you want to block/smash more than...
  10. Short pips on FH

Spin pips chop 2 work great for this! However, they are quite slow... I think spectol, spin pips, or something like tackiness chop will do fine for this style.
  11. Outrageous wiggle by Simon Gauzy!

So Gauzy basically does a quick wristy sidespin to the right... followed by moving his arm to the left, giving the impression of spinning the ball to the left. I notice the ball doesn't actually kick out too far over to the right. Yeung just stepped over anticipating a curve the other way. It...
  12. Can we reverse shrinking?

I use rubber cement on the rubber (some times blade as well) -- then get a hefty rolling pin and stretch that sum'bitch out! It does quite a lot of stretching using that method. Some times even too far! Or you can use your finger/thumb to "drag" the rubber toward the edges. This one some times...
  13. Men's World Cup 2017

lol, all of these posts sound like me after a loss at the club! "Uhh yeah, shoulder was bugging me today... threw out my hip doing yardwork last week... water was too cold when I washed my hands... -- And the ITTF banned my favorite rubber cleaner!"
  14. Help me to find The best way to re-glue rubber from blade to blade

Put the rubber on the new blade (without glue), then use a pen and draw little lines on the rubber near the blade handle so you can align it there when gluing.
  15. Videos of Lower Rank Choppers?

Any more choppers out there to view? I've been working in some techniques and enjoying the process.
  16. Difference between the same blades

At the very least, try to get blades that are weighted the same. Some can be over 10 gram in difference.
  17. How rubbers' "Control" should be read?

I think the more speed/rebound/catapult/sensitivity to spin it has, the lower on the control scale manufacturers mark it So basically, if a newbie picked up rubber X and Y, which would be easier for them to use?
  18. Watching pros makes you better, and we should watch women players

I generally prefer watching women's table tennis. Although they seem much weaker in the backhand strokes than men. Specifically the opening banana flick. Some women do it a lot, but most not so much... compare how many times FZD or ZJ receive serve with a banana compared to Ding Ning or Liu Shiwen.
  19. Gluing rubbers when glue is still wet?

I've just been gluing them up and slapping them together as soon as I finish both the blade and rubber, then tossing them into the press for 20+ minutes. Never had a problem with any falling off yet, or surface pockets.
  20. Is trying to play a defensive/chopper style under 2000 USA basically worthless?

Classical defender... I don't think I have the patience for that. I love the off the table chopping, but those happen few and far between. And if I play someone in a game who does try to loop those... and fails, then they don't try again. So it's back to the push-push stuff. I think maybe I...
