  1. Rubber for much older players used to pre-built paddles?

Wow - buying in bulk like that, I could certainly afford to outfit many of the players I play with...Thanks!
  2. Rubber for much older players used to pre-built paddles?

This question is not for myself, as I'm a younger player (30s), but for these older individuals (late 60s to mid 80s) I play doubles with once a week: The older players I play with spend lots of money buying new pre-assembled paddles - the kind with cheap rubber sheets semi-permanently attached...
  3. Probably the best 40+ ball ? Nittaku Premium (MIJ)

I've played with some of the new Xushaofa seamless balls, and like them quite a bit. The club I was playing at has tons of the nittaku's, and I think those are nice too. I think my favorite so far is the butterflyl G40+, which has a nice crisp sound and a great bounce. On a related note: I...
  4. Blade and Rubber recommendations for Intermediate Offensive player?

Which blade did you end up going with? If you went OSP, just a heads up that it might take a week and a half to get it (especially if you asked for a specific weight). Once it ships, you get it within 3 days though!
  5. Question for Blade-Builders

Blade I completed for Der_Echte's friend, George. -Oversized blade face -Large straight handle -Composition: Mahogany (Khaya) - European Larch - Balsa - Mahogany (Khaya) - European Larch -Walnut handle -7.2 mm thick -86 grams Larch Side: Mahogany Side: Handle Super-Close-Up: Edge Close-Up:
  6. Blade and Rubber recommendations for Intermediate Offensive player?

You're overthinking things. Plus, I feel Rakza 7 has less control in the short game than Vega Pro (it's a bit more reactive to incoming spin).
  7. Question for Blade-Builders

    Thanks, Alan! It's 8.75mm.
  8. Blade and Rubber recommendations for Intermediate Offensive player?

I have both - I prefer the Vega Pro for the harder sponge (but they're both good).
  9. Blade and Rubber recommendations for Intermediate Offensive player?

Based on all the things you've mentioned in this thread, I think you would be very happy with 2 Vega Pros and a yasaka sweden extra blade. Less than $100, fantastic control, and a setup that intermediate to advanced players could enjoy fully.
  10. Question for Blade-Builders

I belong to a wood-working co-op. I went there to thin some veneers for a project I'm working on for another TTD member and I noticed some beautiful, ancient western red cedar resting up against the wall. The people running the place were happy to let me have it, so I decided to build a single...
  11. Amazed by the low weight of the Palio AK74 rubbers... wow.

I am impressed with the speed of my Palio AK47 Red sponge! It is inherently less spinny than Vega Pro or MX-P, but it is really fast. The sponge is so much harder than the Vega Pro or MX-P, and it produces decent top-spin when you put a little effort in. Overall, very satisfied for $12. I think...
  12. Acoustic or petr korbel?

I have the Korbel and OSP Virtuoso +. I have never tried an acoustic. I bet you'd be happy with any of them and would adapt to using any where they're 95% as good as any of those other options. In my opinion, the OSP is better built, has a solid and direct feel that's superb over the Korbel...
  13. Blade and Rubber recommendations for Intermediate Offensive player?

Don't believe me in this domain - it's probably not true :D ...I remember loving T05 for blocks, backhand flicks, and counter-looping. I remember despising it for nice short pushes (my technique, I'm sure). Those things probably haven't changed. I doubt Karis is the complete opposite of...
  14. Amazed by the low weight of the Palio AK74 rubbers... wow.

I just got mine today - two weeks from the day I ordered (which is great, considering price and location they're coming from). I will test them tomorrow and update with my impression shortly after. Initial ball bounce tests shows what Tiago Nunes stated - they take a bit more to engage the...
  15. Blade and Rubber recommendations for Intermediate Offensive player?

I've read a few reviews of the Karis series - it seems like nice rubber - do you feel like it addresses some of the issues I had with Tenergy? I think I could play with Tenergy 05 just fine these days, but it's too expensive for me to want to find out. :D
  16. Blade and Rubber recommendations for Intermediate Offensive player?

Off topic, but Alan "GinjaNinja" is from the UK, has far more posts, etc. "TheGinjaNinja" is a new member (on this forum) from the US.
  17. Blade and Rubber recommendations for Intermediate Offensive player?

I made the mistake of buying Tenergy 05 right when it came out on the market - I was probably rated around 1350 USATT at the time. The "catapult" (or explosively high throw) was great on blocks or my backhand...most of the time... but it really seemed unpredictable in terms of getting the ball...
  18. WHO WILL WIN - Dan vs Chen Weixing | Las Vegas 2018

11-2, Chen. Hard to say if he'll play seriously, or toy with you like he did with Rosskopf in the finals. :D
  19. Handcrafted blades by MDP

Very nice! I've been using spruce as a medial ply (Koto or Limba outers), and I like it quite a bit. Clearly it's working well for you - but are there any issues with it being too soft as an outer ply? What are you using for the medial plies in those blades? Keep up the great work, as always!
  20. Amazed by the low weight of the Palio AK74 rubbers... wow.

Picked up a couple Palio AK47 Reds for a blade I made (Koto-ALC-Limba-Balsa-Limba-ALC-Koto) - looking forward to seeing how they play!
