  1. Xiom product websites

Great question - I have no idea what the shops in your area look like. I'm based in the US, where there isn't a whole lot of serious attention given to in-store table tennis products. I do live about 4 hours south of Paddle Palace, but even then, I wonder how many different rubbers they would...
  2. Xiom product websites

Tabletennis11 has a lot of the Omega VII variations in stock and they ship everywhere, I think.
  3. Which OSP blade is similar to Michael Maze

I have a Michael Maze AND an OSP Virtuoso +. As others have stated, OSP are known for their great all wood blades (and yes, they do have carbon variants, but I don't know how those would compare to the Maze). It might be difficult for you to find a blade that's just like your Maze, since each...
  4. Sealing a blade with cutting board oil?

I agree with most of what Carl said about the cutting board oil - it is designed to keep the wood from drying out, leaving end grains supple and slowing damage from cutting. It's usually mineral oil based (food contact "acceptable", but doesn't go rancid like other animal/plant based oils). I...
  5. How do we need start to build our own blade business?

Eduardo, There are lots of blade building threads on these very forums, and Ross Leidy has an excellent one over on the OOAK forums. That would give you a good sense of whether or not you're up to the challenge. To answer your questions about wood prices - I imagine it is different in every...
  6. FS: Two Heavy (100g +) Homemade Blades $30 Each

Der_Echte, I'm glad he's still liking the blade! Just keep me updated about his specifications and if he wants to try different veneer woods (I have: Koto, Limba, African Mahogany, Larch, and Spruce).
  7. Afrobro's Handmade Blades

    AfroBro, These are absolutely gorgeous.
  8. FS: Two Heavy (100g +) Homemade Blades $30 Each

Der_Echte, That sounds great! I'm thrilled he likes it and that it seems to play well for him. :)
  9. Question for Blade-Builders

Very insightful. Thanks, langel! My results were very consistent between a butterfly g40+ ball and a killerspin 3-star celluloid ball. I would agree about the usefulness and generalizations that can be made from a single pitch metric, as one of the newest blades I tested showed some frequency...
  10. Question for Blade-Builders

Thanks for the insight, langel! It will be interesting to know if the frequency information adds anything meaningful to my understanding of the little tweaks I'm making in blade composition. Also, I hope you're right and it's a flexy little blade. Indeed I have, Alan! I don't have a good sense...
  11. Question for Blade-Builders

Chris, I agree - it's quite fun trying out new combinations. This latest blade came in with a peak amplitude at a frequency of 1270 hz, if that tells you anything useful. I have not looked at any of my other blades' frequencies (yet). Edit: Tried my older balsa blades I made and still have...
  12. Question for Blade-Builders

Alright, this blade is my "funkiest" yet. Sure, it looks normal, but it's got all sorts of strange things going on - most notably the ply orientation, gluing, and use of Larch...which I still can't describe how it plays as an outer-ply on one of my previous blades (it's really crisp feeling). On...
  13. (Urgent Advice Please) Is Clipper CR significantly harder and faster than Clipper?

I would just go with the clipper model you wanted, but take the one that weighs 88 grams. In the grand scheme of things, that's still a decent weight.
  14. FS: Two Heavy (100g +) Homemade Blades $30 Each

Der_Echte, I built one that should meet all of those specifications (hopefully different speeds/characteristics from the asymmetrical assembly of the plies). This blade: 87 grams, 159 x 159 mm blade-face, 5.7 mm thick: Limba-Koto-Kiri-Limba-Koto. Handle: Walnut, 28 mm wide, 25.5 mm tall, 102...
  15. FS: Two Heavy (100g +) Homemade Blades $30 Each

I can definitely manage putting something together that would suit his needs - I'll go with different ply layering on each side. Is there a weight range he would like?
  16. Question for Blade-Builders

My latest two blades (I haven't played with them yet, so no idea how they compare to others): #1: 7-Ply, Larch-Spruce-Spruce-Kiri-Spruce-Spruce-Larch, Walnut Handle, 88 grams, 6.12 mm thick #2: 5-Ply, Koto-Spruce-Kiri-Spruce-Koto, Walnut Handle, 82 grams, 6.38 mm thick
  17. Time to spill the beans!

I also want shoes but don't anticipate playing enough, or with good enough partners - maybe in a few years! ;)
  18. FS: Two Heavy (100g +) Homemade Blades $30 Each

Thanks for the initial impression! I'm glad you've been willing to spend some time with them and share your feedback. I'm hoping the blade speeds up with some Karis+ rubber. I completely agree - there is very little aesthetic value to most of the Koto that I have, but I've been happy with how it...
  19. FS: Two Heavy (100g +) Homemade Blades $30 Each

Okay - that sounds easy enough! I have been making some Koto-Koto-Kiri-Koto-Koto blades (fantastic control, decent speed for a 5-ply) that are in the 81-85g range, but I bet with a thick, solid Wenge or Ipe handle, it would be heavy (95g or so) with a very low balance point.
