So I've decided to stick to my current setup for now. I've just reached the form I've been trying to obtain, so just gonna focus on solidifying that and don't wanna mess with a very different equipment right now. At most I'll try out my existing Vis variants to satisfy my EJ urge lol. Some...
  2. Technique correction - Trying to Fix my FH backstroke + hitting through the sponge

I'd argue that it's the opposite. You did get the feedback, and the feedback was that you were not hitting into the sponge and blade enough. In some ways what you describe is kinda like Goku training with weights. Once you take the weights off, i.e. switch to a setup that's much easier to...
  3. Fan Zhendong is joining 1. FC Saarbrücken next season

I do think that he just flipped his racket around now too. Besides holding his racket backwards, in the match against Jha he also flipped his racket around when smashing then quickly flipped it again after presumably realizing that he's already using the D09c side on the FH.

Did some more extensive testing of the 3 blades, all with H3 FH and D09C BH. I think the Q968 is still the happy medium between the 3. I'm amazed by just how different the Q and the W are every time I comp them. They look identical, yet play so differently. DHS must be using different fibers...

All similar, blades at 88-90 grams and total weight 190-195.
  6. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

So after many months of training, my new form have finally reached where I want them to be. FH, BH, topspin, or backspin, all have arrived, and I've finally got my coach's stamp of approval! Now I'm working on solidifying the new forms as I still slip into poor form gradually when I'm not...
  7. Fan Zhendong is joining 1. FC Saarbrücken next season

Yes, he could, but it doesn't really matter if he's using it on both sides.
  8. Technique correction - Trying to Fix my FH backstroke + hitting through the sponge

I second this. It's difficult to describe technique, it's much more effective to use a specific training method. My backswing was just like @Zezima's, and I had a really tough time trying to correct it after a similar number of years playing. What helped me to finally get it is a training...
  9. Fan Zhendong is joining 1. FC Saarbrücken next season

Yeah, he could just be playing with 2 D09c. All pro attackers boost though, so that's probably not going away.
  10. WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025, 12/10-14

Impressive tournament by Tomo! Are we finally seeing Tomo reaching his peak? The young man is only 22, it's quite impressive what he managed to do in a big tournament under high pressure situations and in a very hostile environment. Sure, he didn't play against WCQ, but LSD was in terrific...
  11. WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025, 12/10-14

If Felix had a bit more experience he'd won this one IMO. He did a great job switching it up after being down 3-1, opening up with spin instead of power, and using a smaller motion and taking a bit off the ball during BH rallies. Tomo repeated dumped the spinny openings into the net while...
  12. WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025, 12/10-14

Impressed with XP. He's playing more like ML in rallies now. Rather than constantly aggressively looking for the pivot in a rally he's now patiently using spin and pace changes on the BH side to control the opponent and then opportunisticly pivot to finish the point when appropriate.
  13. Blade’s weight depending on humidity? How much?

Wood is full of pores, channels designed to shuffle water around. Unless you can keep your blade airtight 100% of the time its moisture content will equilibriate with its surrounding environment. Lacquering will make this process longer, more useful when you have intermittent high exposure to...

Had a coaching session a couple days ago. My coach immediately noticed the improved FH (I didn't say anything), and FH training was shorter than usual as I about doubled my consecutive FH loop record. As usual, the hardest thing to get right after a change in technique is timing, and that's...
  15. Q968 compared to Fan Zhendong ALC and Innerforce ZLC

It pairs very well with H3, excellent spin, still plenty of power when hit hard. I used Q968 for ~3 months but switching back to the FZD now. The Q968 is more difficult to use, harder to hit into the blade, and creates a higher but also longer arc when hit hard so without great technique also...
  16. Sleeping after a late TT session

You jest but it's actually really effective and all natural (individual experienced may vary)!
  17. National Games of China 2025, 11/9-21, Guangdong/Hong Kong/Macao

Well, it worked out for them. Not guaranteed a win obviously but now they just need to win the WCQ vs XX and ML vs ZK matches and let FZD win his.
  18. National Games of China 2025, 11/9-21, Guangdong/Hong Kong/Macao

Interesting strategy by Beijing to go with HYZ/ML for doubles.
  19. National Games of China 2025, 11/9-21, Guangdong/Hong Kong/Macao

I thought it'd be obvious to everyone that she'll never be known as one of the best all time because she's never won a World Championship.

Last time I posted about my FH revisions I mentioned that there were just some minor adjustments needed. Well, those minor adjustments sure took a damn long time! But finally, I'm there. Every little adjustment somewhere meant adjustments needed to be made everywhere else, the work just...
