Hi everyone, Uploaded by YouTube channel RandomStats, this video shows a graph of the top 10 players according to the ITTF rankings from 2001 to 2019. Share your thoughts below, and please support RandomStats by subscribing to their YouTube channel. This is not my work (but I wish it was).
  3. Collection Very Interesting Films

These are great videos. Thanks! An interesting playlist would be videos from the WTTC final every year (as far back as possible).
  4. Average age of top-20 table tennis players: do you think it has risen or declined?

Going back to the 90s and 80s is a little bit trickier as many DOBs are not in the database. 1986 is as far back as I can go without the average age becoming unreliable. 1985 and before are missing at least 50% of the player DOBs in the top 20 for men and women. DOBs can be found for the various...
  5. October World Rankings 2018

WOMEN 32 (63) Kim Song I 33 (41) Liu Jia 51 (74) Lay Jian Fang 52 (69) WU Yue 94 (119) Margaryta Pesotska The first four women in this list of notable jumps in the women's list are as a result of both 2017 and 2018 Women's World Cups being valid for one month. They...
  6. July World Rankings 2018

ITTF will have this and much more before the end of 2018. It's being developed already so we don't have to wait too much longer. :D
  7. ITTF/Sportsmaster Announcement 2nd July 2018

I imagine the T2 Diamond events will use the same rules we saw at the T2 APAC League. It's unclear yet whether there will be further innovations beyond these or if those rules will come into the World Tour and WTTC structure. The panel answered a question on this topic at the press conference...
  8. ITTF/Sportsmaster Announcement 2nd July 2018

2 July For the past two weeks leading up to this day there have been a few posts on social media from ITTF and T2 declaring a groundbreaking announcement which would "Shape the future of Table Tennis." An agreement between the ITTF and Sportsmaster (a new company founded by Frank Ji, CEO of...
  9. T2 APAC 2018 who's confirmed?

Hi all, Season 2 of T2 APAC will not be held this year, and when T2 holds their next event it will not be called Season 2. They are joining with ITTF and will hold events alongside the World Tour, where new concepts will be experimented with. This info is from the ITTF-Sportsmaster press...
  10. Low level Chinese players at the Thailand Open (Challenge Series) 2018

Indeed, this is a valid point, thanks for bringing it up. The eight tournaments also include World Championships team and individual, Continental cup/champs/games, and the regular WT events, that's why I was a little surprised Liu Shiwen is present for a Challenge Series event. The article Zeio...
  11. Low level Chinese players at the Thailand Open (Challenge Series) 2018

One of the smaller events on the ITTF calendar is happening now, the Challenge Series Thailand Open. There is a large contingent from China attending the event, surprisingly Liu Shiwen is the top seed of Women's Singles, it is uncommon for a Chinese A Team player to compete on the Challenge...
  12. Sanwei Pistol GRIP review YouTube

Hi All, I have an older model of the Sanwei pistol grip and find it to be very comfortable and natural to play with. The review here shows the player holding the bat with his index finger through the hole. Having checked the Sanwei website I see they suggest two ways to hold the bat, the most...
  13. Table Tennis Statistics - Have Your Say!

Hi Dan, this is definitely up there in the priority list. Might be a bit of a stretch to get that data before WTTC. Currently working with all results 2008-2018 and should have everything back to 2001 soon enough. Wang Liqin was around before then so it's unlikely we'll see his totals for some...
  14. Clubs in Japan

This forum really brings people together, it was great to catch up with Amekun and share tt stories in person. If there are any Table Tennis lovers in Tokyo PM me and we'll meet up for a hit.
  15. German Open 2018

Such a strong tournament, even just the group stage is brutal. I think we shouldn't rule out several of the seeded players being knocked out in the first round. Plenty of surprises on the cards.
  16. Clubs in Japan

I'm also heading to Nagoya and Tokyo in the coming weeks. Always interested in visiting local tt clubs.
  17. Clubs in Japan

Hi Amuken, I am in Osaka right now, for 2 weeks. Let me know if you are interested in meeting up for some Table Tennis.
  18. It's Official | Timo Boll is the New World Number 1!

Steger reached the quarterfinals of European Top 16 Cup, earning 1260 points. Before this he had only 7 results, which means he retained the full 1260 points. Also, many players went down due to points expiring from 2017 Qatar Open, a Platinum event on the World Tour. They have the chance to win...
  19. Timo Boll will return to ITTF World Ranking #1 at age 37

One of the benefits of this new WR is it's ease of predictability. You can deduct the points which will expire and add the points earned in Feb to see for yourself. Rain has done her homework. Couldn't do that with the old system.
