  1. Is Mark V bouncy?

Plates of glass are very bouncy. Luckily, also they are not allowed as racket covering. @OP, whatever you do, don’t use Sriver FX. *shivers*
  2. New Color of Good Rubbers

That’s evading the question. Let me rephrase. How is it *reasonable* to forbid the use of *the same* rubber on both wings?
  3. Moaning

I guess that club would be called something like “The Swingers”?
  4. New Color of Good Rubbers

I’d still very much like to use the same rubber on both wings. So why can’t I, say, play with Hurricane 3 National (Blue Sponge) on both BH and FH? Yes, that’s probably a silly thing to do at any level let alone mine, but “silly to do” is not really a valid reason to outlaw it, is it?
  5. Boll Allround Wood + Sriver combo opinion needed

I don’t know that blade. An allwood five ply is fine, and that one probably is as well. As for Sriver: my go to too when I started playing again (after 30 or so years). It got me going, though I was a bit disappointed to find out how short it lasted now. My 40-year old sheet sure played better...
  6. Is Mark V bouncy?

Well, I may be old, but not THAT old. There’s been no “before Mark V” for me.
  7. Is Mark V bouncy?

Well, in my teens I played Mark V in (iirc) 2.5mm and many considered that an uncontrollable, overly bouncy and ultrafast rubber back then. When I restarted I cautiously considered Mark V 2.0 or even less, but now the general consensus had turned to it being a very tame allround control...
  8. Bfly too expensive, rubber advice please

G-1 sure is a bit firm, with a medium hard sponge and a relatively rigid topsheet. For me that’s what makes it fit my BH. On the FH, a softer topsheet on a harder sponge (R53) played ok as well. I may be atypical in preferring the same on both wings these days, but I do. T09 was tempting, but...

The law of supply and demand.
  10. Thinning Revolution #3

Water-based glues can be diluted with water.
  11. Glue troubles

    Gently rub it off.
  12. Edge tape?

    It’s a meh decision.
  13. Will Truls beat Fan Zhendong?

No, with a generous side helping of no - as long as FZD stays fit.
  14. Best Xiom Rubber?

Vega Pro. Firm feeling, with a good bite. Fast, but not too hot to handle for many mere mortals. Spins well, both in backspin openups and counterspins, but offers a good direct play and a reasonably solid short game as well. Well-balanced and versatile, and my fave in the Vega series; and all...
  15. Begginer BH rubber suggestions

“Beginner”, well, in my notion of that concept… none of the rubbers mentioned (that I know) strike the right cord. Xiom Vega Intro FTW. Yasaka Mark V. Friendship 729 Super-FX Soft. Stuff like that forms the beginner (and well beyond) class.
  16. Looking for a list of custom blade makers

There's D.A.b Studio; I play with a blade from them. And Ross Leidy, of course, OSP Blades ("Old School Palatinus"). And many more, (searching a bit) this has been discussed before here in the not too distant past.
  17. Soft or hard rubber?

It certainly has related properties. Drop a ball on two blades from the same height, and the rebound height might vary. Mount two blades on a moving object - eg attach them to a spinning fan at the same angle. Again, drop a ball. Results may vary - rebound height, angle, rpm of rebounding...
  18. Soft or hard rubber?

In TT everything’s relative to your level. Your preference is also by definition not an objective. Often softer rubbers are used at the stage where you’re still seeking to develop your technique. To get a feel for the ball, the contact at impact. As people proceed, they might start to seek a...
  19. What is STIGA Cybershape?

There's more to it than just the shape. There's also simply the composition of that blade - an inner carbon (type unspecified), black limba outers (I'd guess), and maybe ayous medials and core - which would put it squarely within the Stiga heritage. Not to make too fine a point of it, but it...
