Apparently I play with a pretty neutral stance now. When I do FH practices at the coaching session the coach has told me multiple times that I have to have a bit more of a FH stance. That used to be the extreme opposite lol where I would keep myself in a heavy FH stance. I also play with my...

Yeah, shouldn't be that hard for TTR to definitively judge pretty much every service. The issues probably comes when the receiver obscures the view of one of the cameras, so ideally should have 3 cameras just in case.

Tennis service receive is so much more about dealing with the speed of the ball than TT service receives, I think that study would translate to baseball better than to table tennis. A specific study would certainly help a lot in clarifying our conjectures. My conjecture of course is that it...

It's really weird how different it feels, but it doesn't look too different. Here's a video from this week's BH practice, the actual practice portion where I'm more focused on technique starts at 3:54. We changed up the practice order, and we're doing warm-ups then straight to practice matches...

He did win the World Cup finals with his BH serve lol.

While I do accept that it can have some effect, the "quiet eye" phenomenon isn't exactly the case here though and ties in with another point that I've made in the past. For one, the "quiet eye" applies to hand-eye coordination, which would apply to the server at the point of contact, and the...

Yes certainly! It's interesting that what the motion feels like is completely different from what it looks like on video. It feels like I'm dropping my elbow a lot more, that I'm simply hitting the ball forward with the top of the racket like I'm playing a badminton BH, but on video it looks...

Just watching some replays, interesting that XP appears to have changed his BH a bit. He's playing with more aggression on that side now, with a bigger movement. Will be interesting to see how that pans out for him going forward.

What exactly is your argument? That obscuring the ball before contact in and of it self does affect play, which is why it should be illegal? Or that obscuring the ball before contact makes it easier to obscure the contact as well, which is why it's OK for it to be illegal? Or both? For the...

Part of the reason I'm really liking the lower elbow form right now is that now I can use a similar motion for blocking and countering.

Easier yes, but still guessing. Also, what does it matter if it's easier when what makes it easier doesn't affect play? It's even easier to judge if a player is wearing blue clothes, should we make that illegal just because it's easier to judge? If going behind the body doesn't affect play, why...

That's what they're doing anyway, even international level umpires, as has been shown by TTR. How else can you judge while sitting to the side of the table?
  14. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

It's also never called at the club level though, even when umpires are present.
  15. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

That's nice in theory but that rule was never enforced until now, when tech is used to enforce it.
  16. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

Which is why the rules need to change IMO. Hiding the ball with the head is only relevant WCQ style when the contact point is hidden. The ball being hidden before contact is totally irrelevant. Hiding the racket before contact makes a much bigger impact in service deception.

Just got back from my latest trip. 10 days in Maui was quite relaxing, but spent quite a bit of time doing mental training still! The focus was on the FH, since I knew that was gonna be a really tough transition to the new form. It actually made a pretty solid difference. Then I had a...

Is it just me or is he using a new blade? His shots seem to have less arc than usual.
