  1. Loki Arthur Europe Diamond

Remembering a post from awhile ago regarding manufacture of rubbers, it wasn’t that simple, maybe 4 or 5 specialist companies involved, most brands outsource the various stages of the process, maybe the only BRAND to do it all themselves Is BTY.?? DHS, 729 have factories, but are these factories...

  3. WINNING G-Wave 120 & G-Wave 80

Today I was at the 1st day of a service training course, day 1 of 4, the 1st 3 hrs I used the set up on my profile, after lunch I changed to a Drinkhall defensive classic blade with the G-wave rubbers on it, FH GW120, BH GW80. Absolutely no noticeable need for technique changes. The GW80 is as...
  4. Yeah! Baby yeah! Let's go retro. Retro is the new sexy!

A few weeks ago I bought a sheet of Tackiness Drive and Sriver and stuck them on my Tamca 5000 blade. This was the first ‘proper’ bat I had. I wanted to see how it played 40+ yrs later!! Spin capability is perhaps 75% of todays modern rubbers, at least in my hands it is!! Not dead but nowhere...

  6. WINNING G-Wave 120 & G-Wave 80

I went on the Winning web site and there are a shit load of colours and sponge thicknesses on there!!
  7. WINNING G-Wave 120 & G-Wave 80

Today I had some hitting time with my robot. GW 80 with the 50 degree sponge is faster, and spinny, it can be used for both FH and BH. The GW 120 is slower and harder, and has a bit more spin. The GW 120 is definitely more suited for use on the FH wing. I haven’t got enough room to step back...
  8. WINNING G-Wave 120 & G-Wave 80

The other name on the packaging is Komann, so this company probably own the ‘Winning’ brand. Komann make some accessories- bat cases, barriers etc and a particularly handy collapsible magnetic ball bag, which is ideal for multi ball practice. It holds plenty of balls, has a strong magnetic strip...
  9. WINNING G-Wave 120 & G-Wave 80

Could be harder, I don’t know or don’t think there are exact comparison tables for the different hardness scales used?
  10. WINNING G-Wave 120 & G-Wave 80

I’ll be trying both on FH & BH, although the GW120 is likely to be too hard / dead / for BH Do you know what the G-wave rubbers are clones of!!
  11. Should absolute beginners take lessons or just play?

Get a mixture of playing and some coaching. It really depends on what your goals are? What age you are, how often do you intend to play? If you are aiming to play once a week for 2hrs, then try and get a 1 to 1 coaching session in for at least 30mins a week, join a club, find a like minded...
  12. WINNING G-Wave 120 & G-Wave 80

This is a first look at at rubber by Winning called G-wave, there appear to be 2 versions available. G-wave 80 and 120. According to the packaging the 80 and 120 stand for the amount of tackiness the rubbers have. 80 has less tackiness and 120 higher tackiness. I’m not sure how long these...
  13. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

There appears to be many reasons why cramps happen, sometimes it can be an underlying issue like nerves, pinching a nerve or sciatica. A minor case of sciatica could result in a muscle cramp without any noticeable pain at the point of the slightly trapped nerve. I remember being told that...
  14. Blade and Rubber Recommendations Wanted For An Upgrade

There are many good blades out there, The fact that you made the same assumption, as did SFF_lib, in that you thought the blade was the Stiga Offensive Classic, when in fact it wasn't, Failed to read the posts, and then went on to make a comment that 'whoever looked at it, didn't know what they...
  15. Blade and Rubber Recommendations Wanted For An Upgrade

you need to read the posts, its not a Stiga offensive classic, read #10
  16. Using a Blade designed for table tennis - Why isn't everyone making the switch!?

I liked the feel as well, the 4 SDC blades I own have got 'dotec' wings and a normal handle (straight flared not concave flared) the wings are thicker and rounded off, no sharp thin(er) wings digging into flesh between thumb and index finger!!
  17. Can Spin Trainers Help?

Its basic and for beginners it DOES give valuable info on how a brushing contact can be made. Agreed that it doesn't show ball flight etc. BUT you can show how to brush over the upper part of the ball, back of the ball (against back spin) etc.

  19. Using a Blade designed for table tennis - Why isn't everyone making the switch!?

Donic make the DOTEC blades, these are ergonomically designed, but still leave a bit to be desired, they naturally close the face slightly on the FH, but then it's more open on the BH. They a good blades, but maybe 4 or so models.
  20. Can Spin Trainers Help?

These are good for learning or showing a new player how to brush the ball properly. When I use them, we play a game and see who can make the ball spin for the longest time!! It also shows the axis of spin, you can then point out the fastest moving point on the ball, and the slowest (at the axis)...
