  1. World Teams: Team Sticky Inner Limba vs Team ESN Outer Koto

Trying different blades and rubbers is fun doing the “normal” things to do when we first get on to the table: FH to FH drive, FH loop to FH block, BH to BH. All topspin related - can explain why it’s so addictive. If we started off with touch play, service return, short game, heavy push to...
  2. The counterloop era?

Yeah very true, I’ve had the fortunate experience trying to block third ball loop kills from RC ~2300-2400 rated ex-provincial level players and the way their ball viciously kicks forward, dips and the energy behind it is ridiculous. Even knowing where it’s going it still just flies out. These...
  3. The counterloop era?

I think there was wider range of spinning ability across different players causing a lot of errors in the initial set of matches while the players were getting accustomed to each other. The plastic ball seems to have taken the variation out for attackers as once they got a handle and gauge of...
  4. Viscaria (normal/ Super ALC) or Ovtcharov Inner ALC

Judging by the World Teams Championships, to effectively use H3 + Vis structure it seems it requires a certain amount of physicality to properly hit through H3 to impart enough spin to create a quality ball at the elite level. Koto+ALC has characteristics related to crispness and so it stands to...
  5. World Teams: Team Sticky Inner Limba vs Team ESN Outer Koto

To go along with my post on the emerging counter loop era I also noticed for male double inverted attackers there’s a clear divergence of equipment usage into 2 distinctive lines of thinking: There’s the ESN Jap type + crisp outer koto facing setup - think Hugo, Truls, LJY (even though he was...

  7. The counterloop era?

No man’s land can also be described as a zone of uncertainty for those not familiar with the term. Where you are not sure if you will be getting a strong topspin opening so you need to be slightly away from the table or whether you need to come in closer to deal with a short push and/or perform...
  8. The counterloop era?

First of all, I really enjoyed watching the World Teams Championship just completed. Upon replaying, I focussed my attention on the first 5 balls and the technical beauty of the counterloop when executed perfectly: - On serve, the typical setup being FH pendulum half long with slight sidespin...
  9. Need opinions on Hinoki blades

Agree, suggesting Hinotec sounds like a good entry point and closer to what OP is familiar with. Danger with this is if it doesn’t suit might unleash another EJ 😂
  10. Need opinions on Hinoki blades

I’m afraid the change from limba to hinoki may take too much time to adjust, even if the speed classification may appear in the same ballpark of OFF/OFF- The hinoki catapult is unique to any other wood imo, there are way more gears (especially if it is Kiso Hinoki variety) which takes countless...
  11. Togami Shunsuke (Japan)

Currently the greatest perspirer in world table tennis, surpassing FZD in avg bflpp (bodily fluid lost per point)
  12. Hybrid rubbers how close to Tacky Chinese or Grippy ESN spring sponge?

Best short game rubber you can get is anti spin with dampening sponge, but then people complain you can’t attack or spin with it 🤷🏻 So actually the best is to develop the hand feeling through repetition of using the same equipment to make the necessary micro adjustments at the moment spin bites...
  13. Why Manika Batra took liking for shabby pimples.

Add NE = igNorE. Be Happy 😂

  15. btfy alc: limba or koto?

Sorry for re-waking this old post, though I think it is a relevant topic in light of the current trend of players migrating to limba, who were known long time uses of koto: LJK (Vis > W968), WCQ (Vis > W968), Jorgic (TB ALC > DJC), Pitchford (Vis > Victas Pitchford) and I guess Dima as well from...
  16. Viscaria Super ALC release!

It seems this SALC material is more picky with rubber combinations vs regular ALC where the vast majority of current offensive rubbers work well with it. Some extremely well: H3, Tenergy, Dignics, MX-P. From the posts I’ve read online no one has really cracked the secrets of this blade yet. Or...
  17. Which is more spin sensitive?

Yes, rubbers that generate a lot of spin would also have a correlating sensitivity to incoming spin. Majority are closely tied i.e. more spin = more sensitivity (T05, D80, tacky chinese), however there are certain rubbers that don’t have such a close correlation which are exactly the type I...
  18. Which is more spin sensitive?

I created a thread recently on the least spin sensitive from 45-55 deg so I should have a good idea as sensitivity is one of the major characteristics I look out for when testing. I’ve haven’t tried T05FX, though I have tested Rozena 2.1, T05 1.9/2.1, T05H 1.9, T80 1.9/2.1, T64 2.1 and T19 2.1...
  19. H3 not work with some blades?

It’s amazing H3 gets this much leeway, with the first blame on the blade and not technique while more suitable grippy rubbers quickly become afterthoughts without the necessary playing in time.
  20. Is there a way to fix a rubber's arc and lift?

Don’t worry it happens. Countless amateurs are disappointed when they buy a H3+Dignics combo and wonder why they can’t play more like their idol, but instead their FH has slowed down and backhand became like a NASA launch station. These are the converted D05 forehand, H3 backhand brigade =)
