Thanks. I wonder how much use people make of the other TTD features (the different sections outside of the forum). Obviously Discourse couldn't cater for all of that.
  2. New Butterfly rubber "Dignics 05" 2019

I won't buy it, no. I'll try it if someone else buys it - But I just can't justify that sort of money for the extra benefit. I'd have to ask myself, will it really improve my game that much? I'm likely to finish the 2 hardest leagues (top division) with 80% this year, which is likely going to...
  3. New Butterfly rubber "Dignics 05" 2019

So the UK supplier has just listed this at an eye watering £74.99 per sheet. For reference, all of the Tenergy range is £56.99. I could be wrong, but I just don't see Dignics selling at that price. Perhaps some rich juniors who buy into the marketing hype, or rich adults for that matter who...
  4. Cheap rubbers - Am i missing something?

I haven't tried all of the "cheap/Chinese" rubbers, but I have tried some of the Yinhe ones - I've found them all very good. I'm a Tenergy guy personally - If I'm being honest, I stuck my nose up at the cheaper stuff - Especially the cheap Chinese stuff. I've put a few videos online of me...
  5. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Now I know what it's like to need glasses! haha. His serves look more illegal in real time because the ball tossing hand goes with the ball toss. You'd likely get a strict umpire call him on a few, but they don't look anywhere near the worst serves I've seen.
  6. How to backhand loop a super spinny pendulum serve that comes long

Aha, that will explain a lot. It takes quite a few years before you become confident enough in your own ability to realise that you are likely better than most online players! That YT video was a good insight into his level, and if he's only been playing a few years, it's a very good start...
  7. How to backhand loop a super spinny pendulum serve that comes long

Isn't this a worldwide TT issue? Haha. If a decent player is asking for advice (and genuine advice like it seems to be here, not the fake advice which is just a way to show off how good they are), you are going to get "textbook experts" answer, as the majority of players are sub 2000 on these...
  8. ZhangLei on MaLong's injury: Very serious, may affect 2020 olympics.

Specific player, but also how well they can adapt their style as they get older. Federer is a prime example of someone who is naturally a very good athlete (perfect for tennis) - But has moved with the times. He moved to a bigger racket head to allow for easier power and less margin for error...
  9. Forced away from the table

100% with you on that. But if an 11 year old kid starts relying on the push rather than the flick, they'll end up under pressure more often than not, as the opponent will instigate the flick. So my advice would be. Learn the flick and learn it well. Learn the push and learn it well. Learn...
  10. ZhangLei on MaLong's injury: Very serious, may affect 2020 olympics.

Well, this was an enlightening thread. Here's a few thoughts from myself - No one needs to agree with them :) 1. I don't buy the whole "ITTF wanting to limit China's dominance" thing. As it stands, it doesn't matter what you do, who you injure or what rules you change - China will always find...
  11. Where can I buy Table Tennis 'skin tight' under shorts?

They could be anything. Literally every major sports company make them. In Sports Direct alone, you'll find Under Armour, Nike, Adidas, Reebok - All will have compression shorts (which is what they are called). I use Nike or Under Armour ones - But prefer the ones that don't come too far down...
  12. Forced away from the table

I wouldn't encourage the pushing game because his flicks aren't perfect. I'd encourage to keep using the flick, even if it's not perfect and the opponent can get in and counter - Again, short term pain for long term gain. But it really is a mental thing - He clearly trains close to the table...
  13. Forced away from the table

Ah, a problem so many of us have! I think it’s worth starting off by saying that I wouldn’t be too worried if he’s loosing to better players. But, more often than not, the weaker player will try and simply stay in the game, by whatever means necessary. This usually involves going back from the...

Would the hosting costs be similar to VBulletin (or whatever this forum runs on?)
  15. Real Life vs Revspin the biggest dissapointment of equipment

I will always look at Revspin, but very rarely do I take much notice of it. The thing with table tennis, is that the vast majority of "online players" - That is, people who review on RevSpin, or contribute to forums etc, are generally at an ability level where they just don't know enough to...
  16. Butterfly Innerforce ALC.SOFT vs. Innterforce ZLC

That's quite funny! I buy my rubbers from the Swedish reseller when they have a sale on Black Friday. Usually means I save £12 per sheet of Tenergy!
  17. Butterfly Innerforce ALC.SOFT vs. Innterforce ZLC

Yeah, if I wasn't in a hurry and didn't mind the possibility of it getting lost in transit or damaged in transit - I'd go for it. My experience in shipping individual items from China/Japan to the UK hasn't been great though, which is why I'd pay the extra money and get it from Tees Sport (or...
  18. Butterfly Innerforce ALC.SOFT vs. Innterforce ZLC

How long did it take to arrive? I think I'd spend the extra £27 and get it from the UK personally.
  19. Butterfly Innerforce ALC.SOFT vs. Innterforce ZLC

Ah OK - Thanks for the video! I guess the Butterfly rep meant the size of the blade, rather than the thickness! I'm still amazed they didn't price this much higher.......
  20. Forum format

It's just very fiddly and not particularly nice to look at. Especially when you are used to the Discourse type of forums which look very nice on mobile (personal opinion of course).
