  1. Chen Hao loses to LP penhold player

I am not sure if Nittaku Bizelox is 5-ply or 7-ply, but Avalox (now Avalox AVX) is still producing both Blue Thunder 555 and Blue Thunder 777. Blue Thunder 555 is OC / Dicon sibling (limba - spruce - ayous - spruce - limba). I don't think BT 555 can be used with pimples, as it is springy /...
  2. Stiga beginners guide updated

Yes, the western formula is like that. Since the beginning, I am biased toward European style of play (one of many reasons I switched from penhold to shakehand). That's why I had many allround blades in the past. My friends, on the other hand, used Gergerly or Sardius when starting to play TT.
  3. Joola upcoming blades 2025

Can Joola just rename it? For example, when Ovtcharov left Donic, they changed all Ovtcharov name to "Original"
  4. I've trained with 20+ top coaches in the world and I still suck :) - AMA

Training is important. But so is playing against many types of players (real play, real games, does not have to be in a tournaments). My observation: 1. Good players might not be good coaches. I found that lower level coaches can train beginners better. 2. All those techniques learned from...
  5. Donic waldner senso carbon

At tabletennis11 blog, the reviewer compared Donic Waldner Offensive 2016 and Donic WSC Limited (Basically a WSC with grey handle and JO shape). He concluded that Waldner Offensive 2016 is Off- and WSC limited is All+. I have ordinary WSC (not JO shape, not limited version) and from my...
  6. Joola upcoming blades 2025

@Matt Hetherington, I have been wondering, why Joola has "Control" and "Accuracy" parameters. As for me, control correlates strongly with accuracy: the more control the blade has, the more accurate my shots will be. Any reasons why Joola differentiates the two? Thank you.
  7. Blade & Rubber suggestion/recommendation - starting over

If you are from the Phillipines, then most players there are using very fast blades (similar to many players from South East Asian countries). So no wonder your coach advised you to get a Clipper. However, now, in the era of 40+ plastic ball, Clipper is still acceptable, as it is not bouncy...
  8. Looking for a similar blade to Stiga Azalea offensive

If Azalea Off is limba - spruce - ayous - spruce - limba with thickness of 5.8 mm, then the closest will be: 1. Donic Dicon (same composition, similar thickness <5.7 - 5.8 mm>) 2. Donic Waldner Offensive 2016 (same composition, similar thickness, DIFFERENT head shape and size) 3. Stiga...
  9. My apologies

I did not follow your threads thoroughly but if it's only asking about equipment, you don't have to worry. I know players who don't really care about blades nor rubbers. They just pick one and then play. Some players are really into blades and rubbers. So naturally they ask a lot of...
  10. Joola upcoming blades 2025

I think it is good that Joola streamlines the blade line-up. Similar to what Andro did few years back. I have seen lots of confusing blades offered from certain brand. It takes sometime to dig out the information of which is which.
  11. Switching to my first carbon blade ?

I am an old fashioned guy, so my answer will be: 1st carbon blade to transition from allwood blade --> (1) Donic Waldner Senso Carbon. (2) Yasaka Ma Lin Carbon (basically WSC without senso handle). (3) Yasaka Ma Lin Soft Carbon (basically Yasaka Sweden Extra with inner fleece carbon).
  12. A stiff all-wood with a soft feel?

Nittaku Violin is flexible yet hard. Acoustic is stiffer than Violin but softer. Clipper Wood (not CR version) is stiff yet soft. Stiff vs. Flexible, doesn't have anything to do with hard vs. soft. Another example is Stiga blade with hardened top ply. It might be flexible (i.e. not stiff)...
  13. Fan Zhendong to Saarbrücken

I think it is sad that he has to withdraw from international tournaments. He is still good and can still beat anybody in the Top 10 right now. But I guess CNT has other young players to promote now.
  14. Yasaka Ma Lin Extra Special vs Yasaka Sweden Extra

YSE to Ma Lin Extra Special is too big of a jump. I would say that Ma Lin Extra Offensive is the better progression from YSE in term of speed (although the feeling is certainly different). A subtle progression will be from YSE to Ma Lin Soft Carbon (basically a YSE with thin inner carbon).
  15. Wang Hao is excellent !!!

I came across a video showing Wang Hao (in disguise) playing against Chinese provincial player. I like Wang Liqin best, but Wang Hao is my favorite also, especially because of his superb RPB. What amazes me is that Wang Hao is actually in better shape (after retired), compared to his playing...
  16. Is there a Donic Anders Lind blade review?

I think Dan has video about it, although it is not a very detailed review, just few comments from Lind himself. Check this out: If you want the concise version (where the blade is discussed, instead of watching the whole thing) then check this out...
  17. New Butterfly Hadraw 5

Avalox P500 is not discontinued. You can still buy it from online store. If I recall correctly, there is hypertt.com (from Malaysia), OOAK TT shop (Australia) and Alphastore?? (USA). You can get Yinhe E-1. It has the same composition. You can get ITC Dynarc T-5, which has the same...
  18. New Butterfly Hadraw 5

It's been a long time since I used Korbel Speed and back then, I used it for just 2 sessions. At that time, Korbel Speed was not released yet, and somehow the TT store that offered me, got a prototype sample (without the usual BTY serial number printed on the blade's face). At that time, I...
  19. Advice for beginners: No need to change your blade

I frequently think about this in the past and now believe that it is true that you need to stick to one blade only. As you progress, you only need to change rubbers. In the past, I have always thought that you need to start with ALL+/OFF- blade first, and then progress to faster blades, and...
  20. Franziska Innerforce ZLC blade reviews or ratings?

I have Apolonia and my friend has Franziska. One time we exchanged bat (too bad, different rubbers on them, so can't really compare apple to apple), but I think that overall characteristics are similar. So my descriptions next, will be based on my Apolonia, which I believe very similar to...
