  1. Is marijuana and psychedelics legal too take and compete internationally

I'm trying to imagine playing a serious match on acid. Performance would suffer!
  2. Is marijuana and psychedelics legal too take and compete internationally

Search : WADA list of banned substances. Cannibinoids are banned in competition, but not out of competition except for cannibidiol which is ok. Same with opiates. Things like LSD and psilocybin are not mentioned. https://www.wada-ama.org/en/content/what-is-prohibited...
  3. Should I change to short pips?

Underline this!!!!! It is crucial to SP.
  4. Can a late starter become a quality veteran player?

To the OP, play a lot. And as someone else said, find a coach who knows how to teach older players. They don't grow on trees.
  5. Can a late starter become a quality veteran player?

I know a guy named Randy Hou who started in his 30s and by 50 was nearly 2300 US level. My guess is that's about the best possible for somebody starting then*. He's a little older than me. I've played him many times, came close once or twice (deuce in the last game), never beat him. Lost...
  6. SARS-CoVID-2/ CoVID-19/ CoronaVirus: Information Only from Well Informed Members

You noticed correctly. The reality is that biomedical research, especially the kind of lab research I do, always takes awhile to lead to a new therapy (if it does at all, and when it does it is from a lot of work by many labs, never just one study). And even then there are a few years or a...
  7. Lifespan of Zylon (PBO)

Bad experimental design. Should have compared TB-ALC to TB-ZLC. I find this comparison every unconvincing. Also, no information on error in their measurements.
  8. Should I change to short pips?

What usually happens is people take a bit of time to adjust. That time varies. They figure out how to play, some new tricks, strategies to suit the SP. They also learn what they can't do anymore. At the end they are comfortable. And their new level is..... Exactly what it was before (or...
  9. Lifespan of Zylon (PBO)

    Citation please.
  10. Lifespan of Zylon (PBO)

I don't think the zylon fiber has to be fully intact to confer its desired effect on TT blades, which is to absorb high frequency vibrations. So this is not something I would worry about. A practice partner of mine has used the same ZJK ZLC since they first came out.
  11. SARS-CoVID-2/ CoVID-19/ CoronaVirus: Information Only from Well Informed Members

Not tripe and almost certainly right. Might be useful. It's an antibody fragment, an unusually small one, but it can neutralize the virus. Anything that can do that is worth looking at. The idea is (I think) that small pieces can get to more places (which is probably good). It might be safer...
  12. Dwell Time .....

Even if the dwell time varied by much less than 1 ms or about 1 ms, I doubt we could sense the difference. TFT is measuring something else. The vibrations BB shows in his amazing video are obviously lasting a lot longer than the dwell time.
  13. Dwell Time .....

I will hereafter just refer to it as TFT (touchy feely time), because abbreviations make it sound scientific. I could use a term like "perceived dwell" or "subjective ball contact time " . But TFT has many advantages and is consistent with Rule 88.
  14. Dwell Time .....

See my previous two posts. Assuming that people can reliably and reproducibly sense differences in something we can call touchy feely time (because it's not the dwell time), we are thinking alike in that it may be the duration of a vibrations caused by ball impact, which may be some sort of...
  15. Dwell Time .....

Here is another thing I wonder about. Let's say we took five offensive blades of various sorts, and ten experienced players chosen to be at a playing level close to the median of the members of this forum, whatever that is. Let's say we put Tenergy 05 on the blades. How much aggreement would...
  16. Dwell Time .....

People talk about being able to feel something they they call dwell time. I'm not sure what exactly they are feeling but it has to be some other feature of their equipment or some "placebo" that their brains construct as they feel, hear, and see results of a shot. Of course, there is an...
  17. Dwell Time .....

Yes. Actually on the MyTT thread that brokenball mentioned, that was my main point. The conduction velocity of action potentials means that the ball has shot off your blade before a sensory signal even reaches your spinal cord. But I definitely don't want to revisit all that!!! One thing I...
  18. How to improve hand eye coordination at home

Just play TT. Motor learning is quite task specific.
  19. Dwell Time .....

    Good times
  20. I am nervous at the tournament

Original quote is from Greg Lemond (Tour de France winner). It never gets easier, you just get faster.
