Very interesting practice today!!
Today I practised with a pip guy, short pimples on fh and long pimples on bh. He played a lot of short balls.
My pip hitting was excellent on these short balls and 'proper' pip flat hitting. I was like a 50 year old man version of Mima Ito, ball placement...
I have just started using a Xiom Solo, with medium pimples on bh!!
It is a bit quicker than my previous force pro blue.
Very good on serves, nice balance of looping and hitting!!
I think it will cure my EJing bug!!
I think it would be good for me to take the advice everyone has suggested and improve the more technical traditional hit with shorter stroke and flatter hit with SP.
But maybe not loose my now infamous reversed pseudo pip loop.
Perhaps I should try and improve it but have both types of shot in...
This video is very interesting!!
The point about using the top of the blade with short pips might go some way to explain why most SP players prefer stiff carbon or 7 ply blades. You want that stability, you obviously get more flex especially at the top of the blade with 5 ply looping blades...
That grip is 40 years of bad habit, almost impossible to stop doing it. I think the best I can hope for is too try and loosen it a little. And improve the forearm.
Cheers Lula, think your right about the soft blocking and variation, a player I know said this try and get some easy balls with soft blocks and chop blocks etc, side swipes a bit like lp shots for variation and easy pop ups!!
I use Spinlord Keiler in 1.8mm on backhand, they are mid pimples I believe. I have tried Spectol Red before. My preferred ball for use if I had a choice would be the Joola Flash (poly plastic not ABS). Personally I believe it spins much more than any ABS ball I have tried, I also think it is...
05fx is very very blade dependant.
On soft blades it can be very mushy, especially in Max.
On a softer blade it is better to use it in 1.9
On stiffer 7 ply wood or Carbon blades particularly with low throw in Max it is excellent for spinning the ball, and driving!!
This is based on me trying...
i use the paper that rubbers come with cut to size of blade and a freezer food bag, works very well.
recently i have started leaving my bat out in the open air in a shady part of the house to allow moisture from humidity to leave the rubbers.
humidity kills rubbers the most IMO
I am a bit like this in life, I am settled in my ways. I do not like change!!
But I want to win more at TT, so I will change and improve my bh.
In several years I will post a video of my awesome bh shots and we will all laugh about my stubbornness!!
Or maybe no one will give a shit!
I am...
