I have just started using a Xiom Solo, with medium pimples on bh!! It is a bit quicker than my previous force pro blue. Very good on serves, nice balance of looping and hitting!! I think it will cure my EJing bug!!

It is on all shots, apart from blocks maybe. Definitely worse on hits and my infamous dodgy pseudo loop!

This video is very interesting!! The point about using the top of the blade with short pips might go some way to explain why most SP players prefer stiff carbon or 7 ply blades. You want that stability, you obviously get more flex especially at the top of the blade with 5 ply looping blades...

That grip is 40 years of bad habit, almost impossible to stop doing it. I think the best I can hope for is too try and loosen it a little. And improve the forearm.

Cheers Lula, think your right about the soft blocking and variation, a player I know said this try and get some easy balls with soft blocks and chop blocks etc, side swipes a bit like lp shots for variation and easy pop ups!!

humidity been awful last few months!!

i use the paper that rubbers come with cut to size of blade and a freezer food bag, works very well. recently i have started leaving my bat out in the open air in a shady part of the house to allow moisture from humidity to leave the rubbers. humidity kills rubbers the most IMO
