Meanwhile, in the entire southeast Texas area ( which is larger in population than some European countries and about the area of Portugal) the ICU facilities are at ~100% occupancy, and 44% are occupied by Covid-19 patients. Neighboring areas (Austin, San Antonio) are approaching the same...

Why even bother? It doesn't affect how it plays .
  3. SARS-CoVID-2/ CoVID-19/ CoronaVirus: Information Only from Well Informed Members

Hard to say. Sometimes it depends on how quickly they can enroll patients. The company is in France.
  4. SARS-CoVID-2/ CoVID-19/ CoronaVirus: Information Only from Well Informed Members

Interesting new drug has just started a phase 2/3 clinical trial for Covid-19. ABX464 is a small molecule that binds to the cap binding complex (CBC)2, a complex at the 5′-end of pre-mRNA transcripts. This causes a bunch of downstream effects including inhibition of viral replication and...
  5. SARS-CoVID-2/ CoVID-19/ CoronaVirus: Information Only from Well Informed Members

Thanks Yoass, I'm doing well personally, even got good news on a recent NIH grant application. There didn't seem to be a lot of particularly interesting things to report about Covid-19 science. It is true, Houston is a $hi$torm of Covid-19, and we may see a repeat of New York and Italy at their...
  6. How long does a player stay intermediate ?

How long intermediate? Easy. Until they start posting on TT forums.
  7. Difference between ZLC and ZLF?

ZLF without carbon is pretty slow. I personally found it pretty weird. Adding carbon to the weave makes it quite a bit faster and probably better suited for modern balls. The difference is very very noticeable. It is obviously a matter of taste and playing style.
  8. Covid 19 Era - How do we resume play?

And the answer is nobody can really know for sure at this moment. Things certainly look better in Europe than in the US, though. But we've seen that there can be flare ups here and there.
  9. Covid 19 Era - How do we resume play?

  10. Covid 19 Era - How do we resume play?

Fortunately there are a lot of different groups working on it. I think it will be sooner than late 2021. Hope I'm not wrong. But I might be.

  12. Have you started to play again?

    Please stay safe!!!!
  13. Covid 19 Era - How do we resume play?

I agree with Igorponger. It's not very often you'll read that from me, but in this case he's right. Indoor sports will be problematic for awhile. I'm also cautiously optimistic about a vaccine early next year. Bear in mind, though, that the first cases in the US were around January or...
  14. Covid 19 Era - How do we resume play?

What do you think the odds of that are? College athletes all over the US are testing positive. I have no solution to offer. Biology is what it is.
  15. Have you started to play again?

I'd love to play. Just now though, here at least, it would be madness.
  16. SARS-CoVID-2/ CoVID-19/ CoronaVirus: Information Only from Well Informed Members

To give an idea of what is happening right now in some parts of the US, a week ago there were 2,100 people in Texas hospitalized for Covid-19. Today it is just over 4,000. At this rate things could get ugly really fast. There are few if any places in the world that have a medical...
  17. advices + opinion for the modern chinese penhold block game

Modern Chinese penhold block game? I'm not sure that's even a thing, certainly not if you look at top Chinese players. It's not particularly modern but it can still be effective. Are there any Chinese coaches where you live?
  18. SARS-CoVID-2/ CoVID-19/ CoronaVirus: Information Only from Well Informed Members

Not yet published but the results of a new randomized placebo controlled trial at Oxford University showed that 2,000 hospital patients on ventilators given the glucocorticoid dexamethasone had death rates of 28% compared to the 40% death rates of people receiving standard of care. This is the...
