  1. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Had a 2.5-3.5 hr playing session yesterday. Got a lot of tips from better players around me and I did some intense drilling for one hour. Mainly movement and correcting a lot of my FH and BH strokes. Getting coaching really helps. Being tall and trying to stay low for practice was exhausting and...
  2. Truls Moregardh Set to play in Chinese Super League

Pretty fun match: FZD hits some amazing shots here. Pretty cool seeing it from this low angle.
  3. Advancing Table Tennis Robots: PongFox Tests Service & Return Feature - Thoughts?

Since TT is filled with conditions, it would be interesting to create a Bayesian model to analyze a person's serve and predict the likelihood of what the server will give. Something like this paper for tennis, but applied to table tennis would be interesting: https://summit.sfu.ca/item/34899...
  4. Advancing Table Tennis Robots: PongFox Tests Service & Return Feature - Thoughts?

This is an interesting idea. Reminds me of what I saw from Tom Lodziak's video with robot training. Here it is: <- Regarding the video I posted, I don't know how I feel about it being so thick. I think having a lower profile sensor would be the way to go if you can get it into that form...
  5. Xiom Vega Korea Review

Contacted a seller here in the US and they will get it around October/November.
  6. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I'm jealous. Most of the clubs in my area are so far apart and only open 2-3 days a week. I need to move haha.
  7. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Looking to get into league play at a club 3 hours from me later in the month. Would be a good test to see how far I've progressed in the past few months. After that, I'll probably look into getting a new sheet of R7 or trying something else out.
  8. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I agree with this assessment, but it's a night and day difference in how low I can get and stay and cover ground. The guy that's helping me train is trying to get me to understand movement and positioning. I think the training I'm doing off of the table has enabled me to cover the lateral...
  9. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Had two good practice sessions this week. Mainly focused on working on the split-step to cover my FH side. I've used Seth Pech's video as a reference on how I train in the gym and it's helping me out a lot on the footwork side. Doing heavy squats/and going to about 60% of my max on sumo...
  10. Is EJing good for improving?

When I think about EJing, I look at my bank account and think other wise. I played a lot in college in our student lounge, got frustrated with cheap Academy Sports Goods paddles, so I did some research, and started with a cheap Yinhe blade, a H3 Neo, and Mercury 2. A few years later, I went...
  11. Xiom Vega Korea Review

I bought another sheet of Europe this week, so hopefully by the time that wears out, the Korea will be available in the US. I might try out Japan if it's not.
  12. Xiom Vega Korea Review

Coming from the Pro and the Europe, X felt a bit too rigid for me on my forehand. Although, I think the sponge hardness is the same for the Pro and the X? I used X on my Sweden Extra before I switched to my current SPW setup with the Europe Forehand.
  13. Xiom Vega Korea Review

Thanks for the review. Really enjoy using Xiom Vega rubbers, mainly for what I get out of the price point. I'm using the Vega Europe on my forehand. Used the Pro and X on forehand in the past, but I did not like how the X felt. Would you recommend the Vega Korea for forehand?
  14. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Yeah, I definitely wish we had more tournaments more often here.
  15. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I get more of an energy dump maybe from adrenaline compared to practice. I can handle the intensity in practice, but I just can't get back into the groove of things after my first two matches. I just feel uncharacteristically stiff. I'll see how my conditioning holds next tournament.
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I'd be so done for the day after my 2nd or 3rd match in a RR haha
  17. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

That's an incredible amount of matches! How did you handle dealing with getting cold in between matches? I can't seem to warm myself back up. You're definitely right about the Harmless Harvest Coconut Water (it's so expensive).
  18. Groups or knocks outs in Qualification rounds?

It seems like some logistics can be fixed and adjusted. I'd be interested in learning more about the backend side and how they reach a lot of their decisions. I like that we have a lot of streams to watch now, so it seems like groups could streamline where each stream can take place. DE would...
  19. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Tested out my new Asics court shoes and I couldn't believe how I played with my heavy volleyball shoes before. I can actually feel my footing and how I'm planting. It's throwing me off a bit in playing, but I'll get used to it. Next step is to get out of the habit of hitting so flat.
  20. Groups or knocks outs in Qualification rounds?

Groups or double elimination (although DE might get weird) for singles would be way more interesting. A WTT Contender event is 32 people, Star Contender 48, then majors 64+. Based on World Ranking, set your groups of 4, so that's 8, 12, 16+ pools, with 6 matches in each group and top 2 going...
