  1. Dhs h8-80

Hopefully you’ll get the DHS kick!!!!!, don’t let the difference in tackiness worry you, the older versions of H8 lost some of their tackiness and then played better as far as I’m concerned!! For me H8-80 plays better than std H8, plays easier, not quite so much effort needed (as such!!) I’m...
  2. Please advise if there is a cheap Chinese rubber for competition?

How cheap is cheap? Commercial versions of DHS H2Neo, H3Neo are about €20 or under, H3/H2 and Skyline 3 €17 ish. G555, G666 and G888 €14 Frindship 729 make good rubbers as well, Battle2 is €20ish, 729-08ES €18, RITC 729 €9 prices taken from TT11 website. Loki N80 €18ish, is another good rubber...
  3. What glue do you use?

Hi, I use Revolution 3 as well, good glue, peels off easily as well when changing old rubbers for new. personally, I don’t seal my blades, sealing may alter the blades characteristics slightly, but because I don’t do it, I don’t know for sure!!! Depends on what you use I suppose, but a hard...
  4. Dhs h8-80

Yesterday I compared tackiness of H8-80 v Tau2, Tau2 had more tackiness, even though sheet was older. Tau2 may have slightly better bounciness as well. Switching from one to the other is not an issue, they both play pretty similarly !!!
  5. Double Fish Quji High Bounce

Check bottom left corner. Can just make out - Thickness - 39-41 degrees Hardness - 2.1 - 2.15mm !!!! Apologies for poor quality of photo.
  6. Double Fish Quji High Bounce

    Photo on its way!!
  7. Double Fish Quji High Bounce

Probably right about the admix being in the rubber because the sheets had curled in the opposite way to when booster is applied, ie with booster sponge domes upwards, out of the pack these sheets curled rubber upwards. After 1st coat of booster the rubbers are now laying flat. No curled edges.
  8. Double Fish Quji High Bounce

Definitely NOT rotten fish smell, different from some other rubbers I’ve come across!!!
  9. Double Fish Quji High Bounce

Thought I’d try out a different Chinese Tacky Rubber (CTR), and decided on Double Fish Quji High Bounce. This is a tacky rubber, which is is marketed as having patented technology “Osmose Inverse” This tech is supposed to maintain the stickiness / tackiness of the top sheet, replenishing the...
  10. Dhs h8-80

If you like the Tau2 (unboosted) on FH, then H8-80 38 degree should fit the bill very nicely!! I haven't used any boosted H3's recently, and when I did boost it was with 39/40 degree versions, these felt a little softer than the H8-80, possibly a little faster. H8-80 is closer to a boosted H3...
  11. Dhs h8-80

I received a 2nd pair of H8-80 37 and 38 degree versions last week. The 1st pair are on a Primorac all wood, I been using this set up for a while now, really enjoying playing with this set up, I can change between the Tau 2 Primorac / H8-80 set ups very easily. The latest pair of H8-80 have...
  12. Getting back into TT properly with the DHS Neo Hurricane 3

There’s loads of H3 versions and sponge types and hardnesses!, 37 thru to 41 degree sponge hardnesses, H3, H3Neo, H3/50, H3/60 etc !! Skyline 2 or 3, is also another alternative as well as H8 hard, mid, H8-80 is also one of the new versions of H8, 37 and 38 degree sponge hardness, has a bit...
  13. UK training camps?

Hi, Not sure if Tees Sport are still running them? back in the day they ran them from Durham, University facilities. Could be worth checking with them, if they don't they may know if there are other training camps being run elsewhere.
  14. Loki Rubbers

Hi Lodro, Haven’t tried the RXTON series of rubbers, the Arthur Asia and Europe top sheets were reasonably tacky, not overly tacky, but they have maintained the same level of tackiness quite well. N80 had the most tackiness from memory, but I have given this rubber away so can’t check what it’s...
  15. Does tacky rubber slow down improvement?

Overall the 'dead feel' or how bouncy a particular rubber feels has many variables, thickness of sponge, hardness of sponge, pore size and density of sponge, pimple pattern, size of pimples (cross sectional area) thickness of rubber (flat part) length of pimples, hardness of rubber, elasticity...
  16. Does tacky rubber slow down improvement?

I think that the tackiness causes slightly more of the ‘dead’ feeling than the sponge. if you cover the tacky surface with a film there is a lot more bounce than people generally expect when you do a bounce test. put a film on a grippy rubber and the bounce test will be the same as without...
  17. Difference between Balsa and 5 ply blades

There are many types of balsa with different properties, yep they are generally light, but balsa can be harder, softer, stiffer, flexi etc when used as a centre core, the other veneer layers then play an important part in how the blade feels and plays. So a 5 ply blade could comprise for example...
  18. Match Tactics, how to analyse before, during and after a match

Summing up what this thread is about, tactics before, during and after a match, thoughts of myself and others that have contributed to the thread. BEFORE, This is mainly relevant if you know who your opponent is or maybe. For those that play at a high or very high level, or regular...
  19. Nittaku Acoustic Carbon / inner carbon

You definitely get more of a woody feeling, blade doesn't feel as stiff as a Viscaria, there is some flex, maybe medium ish!! But it felt very similar to Acoustic wood, no real change in technique was needed at all. the only stand out difference between an acoustic wood and acoustic inner was...
  20. Nittaku Acoustic Carbon / inner carbon

Hi, I have Acoustic all wood and Acoustic Inner, they both feel very similar!! the inner is a little quicker. Same sort of power shot lands about 350 - 450mm longer for the inner compared to all wood. not precise but it gives you an idea how much faster the inner is. based on the above, I would...
