I think it makes logical sense to go harder in the sponge because you can generate more spin that way when you hit and brush the ball hard. However D09c has a pretty hard sponge already. I cannot imagine Zyre's sponge to be even harder.

I agree whole heartedly. When I am confused about which set up to use, I just play a couple practice matches and the answer becomes very obvious. Then I just stick with the set up until I feel that I understand the equipment well.

I personally would not boost any of the rubbers including D09c when you first open the package. I think Butterfly does a pretty good job boosting its Tenergy and Dignics sponge at the factory. Once the rubbers are worn, I have tried boosting it to prolong the life of the rubber.
